Martin,
I cant help you with your attachment problems as I’ve never uploaded images to these forums but I’d be interested to know your opinion and see your shots of the Alpha T6

Good points Daz. Of course a ‘real’ flight sim is the ultimate free roaming game, in MSFS and X-Plane you can fly pretty much anywhere you want to go but I agreee there’s a gap in the market. A simplified free range combat flight sim type game could be really popular.
Something similar to the driving game Test Drive Unlimited would be fantastic. ‘TDU’ is set in Hawai, players can drive all over the island at will in a variety of exotic cars and take part in races against computer driven ‘bots’ or human opponents over the internet. It’s even possible to challenge people directly by flashing your cars headlights at them ! Something similar involving aircraft would be awesome.

If you’re gettting a crash with hardware acceleration enabled there is certainly something wrong.
It could be either hardware or software related. The first thing I would do is check the display drivers are up to date and that you have an up to date version of Direct X is installed (9.0c is the current version) Once you have updated the display drivers I would recommend running dxdiag. To do this click start, run and type dxdiag into the box and run through the test options on the display tab.
If you the problem persists after a driver update I would suggest checking the hardware. Do you have an alternative graphics card you can try ?
You may find resolving this initial problem improves the performance loss you experiance on two displays, however running two displays will always reduce performance significantly.
Let us know how you get on ?
Bruce
Unlikely.
Under what circumstances do you experiance the ‘slow down’ ? If it’s at certain altitudes or as you turn towards an airport or dense scenery area then it’s probably a perfectly normal slow down.
What (exactly) are you FS2004 display settings set to ?

I have added a few pictures located online which I believe maybe KI ‘warming up’
It may be my eyes playing up (it is 3.30am after all) but the aircraft on the left that looks like ‘KI’ appears to be an earlier (B/C) ‘razorback’ Mustang rather than a P51D. I dont have the technology at work to clean the image up but the aircraft on the right looks like a ‘D (possibly KY codes ?)
Also I’m not familiar with USAF unit codes but was under the impression that (as per the RAF) the single letter was the individual aircraft identifier ? The damaged aircraft carries X and the ‘razorback’ is Q.

I don’t know of a Twin Star for either sim I’m afraid.
The default Baron and 172 have G1000 options in FS-X so it should be possible to use the gauges in another aircraft.
Drop me a PM if you want to take a look at FS-X, I can always bring me laptop into work (Hangar 5) on a weekend.
Bruce
X-Plane includes the shuttle. It’s a flight sim rather than a space sim but it’s a fun approach to fly !
Bruce
Rob,
It’s only a matter of time before one of the existing models (for FS2004) are upgraded to take advantage of FS-X. It would then be just a matter of persuading someone to do a repaint (a relatively simple matter) This would probably be a better solution than getting someone to design a model from scratch.
Off the top of my head both Aeroplane Heaven/Just Flight and Sky Unlimited do excellent Spit V s for FS2004. The Aeroplane Heaven site has a free download of a Seafire (III?) which is similar and gives you an idea of the quality of their work.
Best of luck,
Bruce

If you’re sure the problem lies with FS9 and not your hardware try making deleting you FS9.CFG file (make a backup first)
Next time FS9 starts all your settings will be reset to default anf FS will have built a new cfg file. Resist the urge to immedaately up the settings but run it as default for a while, then gradually change on setting at a time.
As Blue Robin also pointed out similar error occur with the scenery cfg file, you can also try making a backup and deleting the original, but bear in mind you will be disabling scenery add ons by doing this.
Hope this helps,
Bruce
FS-X Demo seems to run faster comparitively to my FS2004 install. Any thoughts? More 3D-efficient, or is it just because the demo is cut down?
Possibly a differnce between your graphics settings on your FS2004 install (quite high ?) and the standard settings on the demo (pretty low ?)
I find FS-X runs a lot slower than FS2004 when at the same resolution and comparible settings.
Bruce
Got it, love it, hate flying without it.
Expensive but worth it, the best FS hardware I’ve ever invested in, with the possible exception of rudder pedals.
Bruce
Excellent !
I probably have more Mustang variants than any other aircraft on my FS installation. I don’t mind adding to it though !
Nice work !
Bruce
I can’t help with the tail wheel issue but you should find that SHIFT+E opens the canopy and possible SHIFT+E+1 or SHIFT+E+2 opens the door ?
Another option might be to click on the door handle inside the virtual cockpit.
Bruce
I will soon be building a new PC for FS-X as well and although I haven’t finalised the specs I will certainly be going dual core (I’m leaning towards AMD X2 but thats because I’ve been happy with AMD for some time) I’ll be putting in 2 gig of RAM. I’m still considering my options with regard to graphics cards, I’m under the impression that there is no real advantage to using two SLi’d cards in FS-X but time will tell.
Bruce
i dont know anything about flying a plane
Start in the default Cessna 172. Everything you learn here can be used as you progress to other aircraft. You’ll need a joystick if you dont already have one, and just remember:
Pull the joystick back = houses get smaller.
Push it forwards = houses get bigger.
Hope This Helps ! 🙂
