The ‘Just Flight’ Spitfire package is actually produced by Aeroplane Heaven (http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com) ‘Just Flight’ are only really the publishers of the CD package, the aircraft contained in it are available as download products as well.
It’s difficult to give a direct comparison between the Real Air Spit and the AH Package because they take different approaches. Most if not all of the Spitfire versions are modelled in the AH package and they can be purchased/downloaded in seperate packages if you buy online. The quality is very good. If you want to sample AH’s quality they have several free downloads on the website including a Seafire and the superb Hurricane released just a few weeks ago.
The Real Air version models just the ‘high back’ Mk14, although ‘clipped’ and ‘unclipped’ winged versions are included. There is also a model with a contra-rotating prop. There is no real 2d panel as the aircraft is desgned to be flown for the 3d ‘Virtual Cockpit. I
n my opinion Real Air aircraft are among the best add ons available for flight sim. Everything Real Air do appears to be produced to perfection. The 3d model of the aircraft is excellent, frame rate friendly and nicely animated. The sounds are wonderfull and textures are beautifully done. Real Air are particularly well known for the quality of the guages, which are exceptionally smooth. The flight model however stand above anything else. Real Air are the only company that produce add on aircraft that stall, slip and spin properly in Flight Sim. This is the clincher for me. The aircraft feels like I would imagine a Spit to fly, and that’s what it’s all about for me ! My only niggle ? I wish they’d done a Merlin powerd version, but thats personal taste.
Personally if I was to recommend one over the other I would have to recommend Real Air. That’s not to say the AH aircraft are poor, on the contrary they are excellent, but Real Air are better still !

As far as I know there are no stand alone ‘Spitfire only’ sims.
Some combat sims include the Spit as a default aircraft. ‘Battle of Britain 2’ being one obvious choice. The IL2 series also includes Spit/Seafire variants. The same team who produced IL2/Pacific Fighters are working on a Battle Of Britain sim at the moment. However if you’re interested more in flying a realistic Spitfire sim for the sake of flying rather than for combat, you really ought to reconsider FS2004. There are several decent Spitfire models, including the awesome Real Air Spitfire 14.
Probably the best value yoke/pedals would be the CH products stuff. Saitek are releasing a new set of pedals soon to. I’ve used CH stuff for years and find they’re good value and the product support has been first class.
Headsets vary hugely, £20-30 will get you a decent PC headset. Plantronics is a brand I’ve found very good.

I have had it since release, it’s superb. If you like the 310 or jsut want a nice twin for FS, it’s ideal.

Well, I’m not going to make Legends (http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=59841) but if I can get transport sorted tommorow I’ll pop along, you’re only down the road and I’ve been meaning to come and have a look for some time.
Bruce
It’s been too long since I last visited Brunty, but the Legends weekend makes it a no no for me I’m afriad.
Bruce
Richard,
I’ve sent you a PM.
Bruce
Possibly from something like a Varsity ? Not a pilots seat but maybe one of the ‘flying classroom’ seats ? I haven’t been able to find a photo to confirm this though but maybe someone here can help ?
Just a thought,
Bruce
Flyware is relatively simple to set up, I would suggest you take a look at the demo but you will need some patience, I’d be glad to help if I can in any way.
Where abouts are you based ?
Bruce
This is something I’d love to do if I had the space and money, I’m have to admit I’m more than a little jealous !
If I were building such a project rather than using a panel from flight sim for you internal monitors I’d use a seperate program such as Project Magenta or FSExpand (http://www.flyware.nl) I use the flyware software myself, it’s easy to set up and you can configure the panel to show whatever instruments you need, even adjusting the size/shape or colour of individual guages. It’s affordable and can be run on either the FS computer or a seperate PC networked to your flightsim set up. Take a look at the demo and feel free to PM me if I can help further.
Regards,
Bruce
P.S. I take it you’re using the excellent Aerosoft A10 for FS2004 ?
FSHost Spy
Download FS Hostspy (http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshostspy/) which will allow you to view a list of avaiable public FSHost servers.
HTH,
Bruce
im about to touch down and they say go around. Is there any way i can stop this from happening?
Turn the radio off ? 😀 I’m sure ATC will still tell you to go around but you wont be able to hear them….
Alternatively reduce your traffic density, FS2004’s ATC is probably telling you to go around due to a traffic conflict.
Bruce
You can both fly together if you are connected to an FS Host Server (http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/) Download the FSHost spy tool to find a server to fly on.
Rgds,
Bruce
The aeroworx one sure looked gorgeous. It’s a shame it’s on hold, especially considering what it’s on hold for, a bloody light twin :S
