Some idiot made that comparison:

200kT payload means nuclear warhead equivalent to 200kT of TNT.

While 1000KG is the weight of the warhead the missile can carry.

Well I really don’t know Phantom. Usually you just see the A-5s dropping bombs, not doing air to air.
I am sure other members (Mig_master perhaps) can shed some light on the situation.

BTW has anyone noticed that antenna thingy just behind the cockpit protruding out vertically on the top?? Yeah the one which looks like like the one which the J-7 has.

So why is it present on only some of the Fantans and not all of them??

Maybe both reasons?

I think both reasons..but more of the first one than of the second. Mirages are better interceptors (than Fantans) IMHO.
