I have always liked the AH-56A Cheyenne but I think it was too advanced and complicated for the time.

I’d like to see the Cheyenne concept built with modern technology though, it would be the attack helicopter F/A-22 Raptor 🙂

Some interesting compound helicopter info here http://www.geocities.com/tacticalstudiesgroup/piaseckivtdp.htm

Knowing this country’s legal system, when they get whoever is responsible for these bombings some Bleedin Heart Solicitor will get them a very light sentence if they are found guilty. In there own contries they make sure they cannot do it again (by usualy Hanging them)

Sad but true, how many Irish terrorists never completed their sentence after the so called peace process.

I guess the British legal system has to give out light sentences so they can guarantee a constant supply of repeat offenders to keep them in their comfortable jobs 🙁

I notice that the latest Bell ARH doesn’t have a mast mounted sight, is this a good or bad change? http://www.bellhelicopter.textron.com/en/aircraft/military/ARH/bellARH3.cfm

To the cowards who will fight their battles not soldier to soldier but fanatic to innocence, I would say “pick on someone your own size”!

    Nasir Khawaja

Thanks Nasir, it’s nice to hear the views of a true muslim and not the views of sick and twisted murderers who claim to be muslim.

$120,000!!!!!! talk about not getting a lot of bang for your bucks! The APKWS only has a M151 3.95 kg (8.7 lb) anti-personnel fragmentation warhead.

12t is far off. Series production single seaters are lighter. I can not disclose the actual number however.

    According to http://www.eurofighter.com/Typhoon/Airframe/ Basic Mass (Empty) is 11,000kg (24,250lb) and Maximum (Take-off) 23,500kg (51,809lb

The EJ200 engine was designed with a 20% growth potential and it already has a combat setting which increases thrust.

Quote- the baseline production engine is also capable of generating a further 15% dry thrust (69kN or 15525lbf) and 5% reheat output (95kN or 21263lbf) in a so called war setting. However utilising this capability will result in a reduced life expectancy.

I didn’t realize the APKWS program was in trouble. It’s a shame that initial costs will be high, but you would have thought that the JDAM program would show that mass production brings big cost savings.

How much does a Hellfire cost? I have seen figures of $25,000 to $65,000.

It is said that the machine is a tiny bit *lazier* and less agile than desired, but surely the EJ200 have much reserve in thrust increase, so this might be improved gradually with future engine blocks.

I think this is because weight increases haven’t been matched by uprated engine thrust. It still has better performance than the aircraft it is replacing.

A general for the RAF said one Typhoon is as capable as two Tornados!

I think he’s right, the Typhoon will combine the capabilities of the Tornado F3 and GR4 in one airframe and have superior performance 🙂

Let’s hope the RAF gets all 232 aircraft!
