The F/A-22 will be able to carry 8 SDBs, which in my opinion will give it a impressive strike capability if the SDB performs as well as the films show.

I think that as soon as access to space becomes affordable and reliable there will be a big market for the vehicle that achieves it.
Skylon hopes to solve the fuel problem with air breathing engines which liquefy the air which saves on the amount of liquid oxygen that needs to be carried.
I think the Space Shuttle was a failure, because the design ended up being alot different to what was originally intended. It was meant to be a all reusable system and it was never developed into a reliable vehicle.
Ja Worsley,
I haven’t read much about the Jaguar M, I thought it was superior to the Etendard?
I would have loved to see the Buccaneer further developed, fantastic plane 🙂
over G,
I had forgotten about magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) propulsion until you mentioned it, then I remembered this strange looking Japanese MHD test ship the Yamato-1.

The Sea Shadow test ship http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/sea_shadow.htm and a electric ship demonstrator spin off.
Its interesting to speculate what would be different if the CVA-01 had been built, what aircraft would be operational today? navalized Jaguars and Tornados?, no Harriers?, would Eurofighter Typhoon look more like the Rafale? and would the Indian Navy be operating it about now? 🙂
Why is a F-16 pilot nicknamed a Voting Member?
I think the Tornado F3 is nicknamed the ‘Flick Knife’, anyone know for sure?
I guess podded engines would need very strong and heavy attachment points to the wings or fuselage of high performance aircraft which operate at high Gs.
Weight is a big issue in aircraft design, so the lighter the better.
I had to copy and paste it in the address bar.
Does this one work? http://www.crewstart.com/Pages/aircraft_nicknames.html

Buff = Big, Ugly Fat F*****, but what does Puff stand for?
Sorry couldn’t resist 🙂
More pics of Avro Canada flying saucers here http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/collections/image_bank/dig_img.cfm?action=manu&Model=Avro%20%28Canada%29%20AvroCAR%20%28VZ%2D9V%29&Designer=Avro%20Canada
The Avrocar VTOL research flying saucer was a failure according to this site http://www.avroland.ca/al-vz9.shtml
It was designed to do 300mph at 10,000ft but only managed 35mph and was unstable above 3ft.
If I remember correctly the A-129 Mangusta was the basis of a pre Tiger european attack helicopter program, anyone remember the name of it?
I think the Mangusta could make a good ‘off the shelf’ Commanche replacement.
The RNs cancelled CVA-01 🙁
