I have to admit it doesn’t look like the right place to put a Storm Shadow, I haven’t seen one in these positions in any fit check photos yet, maybe it needs a new design hardpoint?
Still, it would come in handy if the boarding ladder got stuck;)
Can anyone of the Typhoon-maffia explain me how the Typhoon takeoff with the following loadout?
Levitation?
A droppable trolley (like on the Me-163)?
Tailsitting VTOL?Just look at those Storm Shadows, and see where the main landing gear ought to be… From the Austrian Typhoon-page linked above.

😀 the funny thing is that after all these superb posts detailing how good the Rafale is, this particular thread has just died ! no Typhoon supporters arguing about the merits of their jet ?! 😀
Typhoon is going to be a great plane compared to what its replacing so I am sure its operators are going to be perfectly happy with it.
The only advantage Rafale has over Typhoon that can’t be fixed by avionics/software updates is its ability to carry large stores in a better arrangement and its good looks:)
The Rafale has a better hardpoint layout than the Typhoon- it simply has. The Rafale can actually carry 3* 2000 litres external, two SCALPs and a whack of MRAAMs. It has actually been flown agressively with this loadout.
Allow me to repeat my mantra that has run through all of my posts (check the archive) over the years: the Rafale’s multirole advantage over the Typhoon is a lot bigger than is Typhoon’s ACM advantage over the Rafale.
Typhooon is going to work well- Rafale is going to work a little weller.
I have to admit the hardpoint layout on Rafale does appear alot more flexible, but Typhoon will have a far better loadout capability than the aircraft it is replacing (Jaguar, Tornado) so I’m still more than happy with it.
Breguet Taon lost a NATO competition to the Fiat G91.
Nice looking little plane:)
I’d like to see flying boats/seaplanes/amphibians make a come back but I can’t see much point to this proposal.
I think it would be better to bring back the flexible deck concept with UAVs belly landing on a inflatable cushion.
Too much money spent on too few aircraft!

Makes sense, but the nose gear is blocked by the front bags and they have a crane at hand, any other ideas?

I was trying to find info/pics on the Sea Control Ship when I came across the Valkyrie but couldn’t find anything I hadn’t seen before.
Thanks for that pic.
When watching 70s TV shows has anyone else noticed that when airliners come into land at airports they nearly always cut to a scene of a B-52 undercarriage deploying.
