The sea fury at Matt’s in Chino is in a hangar and work hasn’t started yet, hopefully it starts soon. On this list N800H F8F has sold recently to Erickson in Or, after John Sessions’ finance scandal.

Thanks for keeping up the heat on this scammer. We in the preservation scene here in the US have known he is a joke for decades. Tighar have never actually recovered a single airplane as far as I know .

” I intend to get the popcorn handy for when the chaps who found the Electra- shaped seabed anomaly go back with cameras. Obviously I’d love to see it found, but seeing TIGHAR’s reaction if it is should be priceless.”

I wish this had a better ending , you missed the story a month ago. They did go back . It was a rock. I would have loved it if it really was the Electra.

Thanks very much , this is great. I checked on the Goodall site and Kermit’s departed the UK in September , 1987.

The right seater Frank Wright , the Museum Principal had gotten his twin rating in 2020, not the captain. The captain has been flying for decades. Mike Gilles the captain’s record is on Linked in, but I can’t seem to post the link. At one point he flew for Eastern Airlines -1989-1991 it states .

In the 90’s the editor of Air Classics told me ” I don’t think we will see more Mosquitos restored to fly.” At the time it did seem impossible , so there was nothing wrong saying that. Never say Never. Not only have we had the four done and more coming , Victoria Air Maintenance in BC Canada,  rebuilt Bob Jens’ airplane and flew it. Sadly this went to KF Aerospace in Kelowna BC in June 2022 and hasn’t flown since.

Since most movies are fiction , even the ones based on reality, this fits perfectly!

This brief flight was back in May, the video only came out this week. I thought something was up when I checked FlightAware and saw the flight was so short . Glad it worked out ok. Now you can see why they have helmets and goggles.   The airplane only came back out of the hangar again in past couple of weeks.

Daisy Grace has confirmed it on the Grace Spitfire FB page. Dreadful news. It’s never a good sign to see someone’s name as a forum subject and I knew what this would be about . Thanks for letting us know also. It had not been posted anywhere else but here.

I’ve been told it’s gone for good . I still don’t understand why it can’t be at Duxford anymore . It’s as absurd as moving the F1 race from Silverstone.

This is only the same paperwork as 30 years ago. It’s not the same airplane .  Mike posted this on WIX and I was told this also by someone in the business.  And thinking about it,  a lot can be rebuilt ,  but that thing was totalled in 1990. Destroyed.

    Mike’s post:

“The aircraft which crashed on Tuesday was essentially a different one altogether from the 1990 one. After the crash it was parted out, the power wing fold mechanism going into an ex-Iraqi Fury in New Zealand. The ‘new’ WG655 was built up from mostly ex-Iraqi parts, using very little from the original other than the identity and paperwork. Some of the bits from the original ended up in various other rebuilds, some are still stored with Sanders at Ione.”

Yes – the DMB engine only lasts 100 hours between the very expensive $300k+ rebuild, so your comment is very accurate !

Yes the male Italian was Flying it. I’m not sure why his wife is listed as the owner – I thought he was. Who knows.
