I’m with Nigel on this one…..He couldn’t leave early, so even if he did blow all his dosh on tickets, he wouldn’t have got anywhere near the place, (as someone else that got stuck in line had to turn around and couldn’t even get in.) I see others points about not going into the show, but I agree with Nigel’s circumstance that forced him to go outside.

I don’t know about the Stearman, the biplane that David Gilmour owned was a Staggerwing.

The NTSB recently put up the report on the Mantz crash. Among the factors was the fact that he had alcohol in his blood.

You are right to be annoyed Flood….I haven’t been getting FP on a regular basis lately, if I was I too would be getting annoyed. Spelling errors drive me nuts also, not on bulletin boards, because these are not paid for magazines….Because I watch shows from Colombia, I’ve become fascinated with that place….And one thing I’ve been noticing alot lately, is the fact that people can’t spell the word Colombia. Now this is in coffee places like Starbucks, where they are selling as I like to say “fine Colombian products” yet twice I’ve been in there lately and they can’t spell the name. Doesn’t anybody ever look at the damned coffee packages or cans?

A great set of pictures there ;- any chance of the Marauder air-to- airs, while you’re in a posting mood ?Going back to the Storch, is it a MS.500 , and if so, might it be it be the old G-AZMH?
I’d be happy to post a couple of them…..the problem is I’ve been moving the past two months….all of my archives are in storage so it’s hard to find anything at the moment. If you have a collection of FlyPasts one or two of my shots were in the either October or November 93 issues or somewhere around there and in the first few pages.

Nice shots of the Starliner(Connie) think its the same one that was as Sandford in 1992? I went to the old museum at Tiamiami in 1990 and was very impressed. Thinking of going back this year. Well its cheaper to go to Florida for a week than fly from London to Scotland to go to East Fortune on a weekend !
That is the same Connie….She is my background shot on Windows….a great pic of her landing at Fantasy of Flight. Rant: What a shame my Marauder has to stay outdoors, where she has been since Jan 1991….A true shame, she deserves to be inside. So many fond memories of her at Chino….including the best, August 5, 1993 when I became the first to shoot her air to air!

Never to be repeated, but was incredible, was seeing David Price’s newly restored Skyraider flown with the dive brakes out at the Chino airshow in 1989. The pilot would dive down with the brakes out….Was really something to see. Was always one of my favorites.

I’m wondering if it was sold in early 1992……and was in the UK in 92…..why did it take so long to get to Chino…..where it first was seen in Sept 1993?

I just saw some posts on another site and it said the 190s haven’t flown yet….and the owner of the company building them died in Sept so the building process has slowed down. On top of this the poster said the aircraft have not been approved to fly yet. Add to the fact that Worms is not in Bavaria and is as you say quite some distance (which it is as I’ve been to Germany twice) I think it is highly unlikely this was one of the Flugwerke aeroplanes.

I’m one who got into warbirds in the seventies because of the glamours types….but I also have always been into the lumbering giants as well. It was a shock to hear about the other Bev being scrapped. I’m glad that this one seems to be on its way to survival after it’s recent uncertain times.

I think with just four examples it’s just too rare to fly it. We’ve seen what happened with the CAF Marauder, and there aren’t much more than four of those either. The Lone Star Museum’s taken a sensible approach with their A-20 and have never flown it.

A friend of mine recently told me Paul Mantz’ July 8, 1965 accident was recently put on the NTSB website. It’s here:
The fact that alcohol was involved was rather shocking.

The POF airplane burnt out in 1982 after a landing at Porterville, CA.

I knew when I clicked on this thread what it would say and I’m sad I wasn’t wrong….(I didn’t see the other thread). Much condolences to his family and the members of the Key Publishing team on your sad loss.
