Seen images of Vampire T11 XD459 at North Weald now. Unsure what the plan is for it though.

I’ve read that Jaguar XX841 is now at North Weald. Anyone know what the plan is for the aircraft?

I expect the chances of seeing the F-104 are considerably less than zero ? 🙂

The Starfighter team have said they’re not planning to leave Norway this year. I love the thought of seeing an F-104 at NW though!

I was having a wander around Stock scrapyard in 2009, on the off-chance that something of interest would still be there, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the battered remnants of a MiG-23. It turned out to be a former Russian Air Force aircraft that was previously at Shoeburyness range as a shooting target.

I was on a school trip in Northern France in 2000 and was treated to a pair of Armee de l’Air Jaguars beating up the coast at fairly low level, followed by a pair of Mirage F1s the following day!

North Weald probably has some very valid reason why they don’t have one anymore – I am sure I have seen some reason somewhere but it escapes me at the moment

The proximity of the airfield to both the M11 and Stansted makes it difficult for North Weald to host a full on airshow sadly.

The Cranwell aircraft is also a Dominie.
In terms of preserved aircraft, there’s also ZD620 at Bournemouth museum.

The Lightning T5 at Cranfield might fit your criteria too.

Those runway head-ons are awesome, particularly the Jag.
Gutted that this happened 20 mins down the road from me and all I was bothered about at the time was playing with Lego or something.

Good news, I don’t think these machines reached European skies, remember seeing some of these birds in the late 80’s at Medan airport in Sumatra. Thanks for posting the link.

The Hellenic Air Force operated a fleet of six, although I’m not aware of one ever making a trip to the UK.

Is it possible to ID the model please?

Looks like a Swedish Herc. Presumably out of Cambridge?

It was displayed at Air 14 last September. No idea what its movements have been since then though.

Thought it might be interesting to share this pic of a MiG-23 I shot at Hanningfield Metals back in April 2009. Having made numerous trips down there as a kid to see the Phantoms, Buccs, Canberras etc. I took a random trip there to see if there was anything of any interest still at the site. The answer was no, just random metal, until I walked around a corner and found this..

I believe it is 50 red, formerly of the Russian Air Force.
