Not a bad job really, flying Typhoon during the week and Spit’s and Hurri’s at weekend….
Nearly there……
We are still waiting for some of the spares to arrive for the No 4 engine which should be on Monday. Once fitted all four engines will be oil primed ready for ground runs which hopefully should happen later in the week. As I have said before we are nearly there and I look forward to seeing her in the air once again this year
The Lanc is nearly ready according to a post on Facebook, back on her wheels after an undercarriage function test and was due to have the No 3 prop fitted today. I guess that there will be running the engines at some point in the next week followed up with a test flight if all goes well. :eagerness:

Could part of/full word on the fourth picture down be funk? Which I think means radio/wireless in German?
Think somebody was reading the auto prompt in the video 🙂
Haha! Nope just done far to much late night reading… It’s also in one of the story lines in a book I’ve read called The Wild Blue which is a fictional piece about the US Air Force.
Was on a test flight low through the Sierra Nevada’s as I remember reading about, think the yanks had lost a couple of buffs training for the low altitude bombing of the USSR and it was something to do with the turbulence in the mountains that buffeted the tail plane causing it to fail with the loss of the aircraft on a couple of occasions.
BBMF Dakota at about 13:20 heading from Oldham-Rochdale-Heywood… Back in the air after a few weeks on the ground.
Least they haven’t found anymore bodies now the wreckage has been removed, fingers crossed they don’t find more at all….
Picture on sky showing part of the aircraft, looks like the front end broke off on line with the start of the air intakes, might explain how Andy Hill wasn’t killed when the fuel ignited. Hope he pulls through with a sufficient quality of life.
Looks like there has been a crash at an airshow in Switzerland, one fatality up to now.

Not a good weekend for aviation…..

Fantastic work by your team Matthias, must really make you proud to see all your hard work come to life! Also what a job Charlie Brown has, must have some total of hours in warbirds now!!
Just a heads up for next Saturday 22nd August that its Dawlish air show, not a bad little line up for a “free” (donations can be given on the day or by buying a program.) job….

As for “The Bomber” as the BBMF like to call it would it not just be best to test flight the new engine as necessary then put her to bed for the winter, save a bit more time on the main spar and other bits with a limited fatigue life…..
Some pictures on Facebook showing PA474 with the new engine fitted, hopefully wont be long till she takes to the air again…..

Nearly 200,000 Merlin units built between RR and Packard, must be a few thousand still knocking around in some form. Wasn’t there a “rumour” of a warehouse over in Canada where there was quiet a few engine blocks and other components boxed up??
