The Sopwith Snipe had oxygen for the pilot but that only made a brief appearance at the end of the war.

Can’t believe they have put the pictures of the aircraft burning with the news report, surely the remains of the poor pilot must be in the aircraft still. I find it rather tasteless especially when he could have family and friends who could see the pictures.

    RIP.

Loving working down Swindon this month seen all sorts of US stuff going over, the best of which must be the B-2 that went over on Wednesday i think it was. Also seen a B-52, C-17 and a KC-135.

My Grandad flew 2 operations on D-Day, got hit by anti-aircraft fire coming back from Argentan and had to land at RAF Woodbridge which resulted in them ground looping, his captain got the DFC during the tour, would think it was for this operation.

Just wow! Love the pictures shot at night time with the stars! Would love to spend some time wandering around there poking around in all the old aircraft, would be like a kid in a sweet shop…… :eagerness:

workers were using a gas-powered thermal cutter to take the bomb apart when it exploded

Distinct lack of health and safety…….

Just feel sorry for the people who died by somebody’s silliness, surely they must of known what a bomb looks like.
