Would be nice to see any pictures of old RAF Waddington with 467 Squadron lancs in them if somebody has some knocking around. Have found quite a few on the web but would be good to see some more. I’m going to ask my Grandad if he has any picture’s from the war and will post them on here when i can.
Thank you for all the excellent updates Matthias, What a fantastic workshop and talented set of people you have there! How is the 109 coming along now? Also you might of been asked this before but if you could restore to flight any rare aircraft then which one would it be and why?
Fantastic! Reminds me of being at my Grandad’s having tea one summer a few years ago when he suddenly jumped up and ran outside at the sound of engines approaching, it was The BBMF Lanc followed by the Spit and Hurri. It was great to see him dancing up and down with a massive grin on his face as they went right over the house!! 😀
It looks like there is going to be some sort of housing development built on that spot from what i’ve read. I’m guessing that there wasn’t much of pilot or aircraft to be found during the dig. RIP.

Bizarrely, one can access (on line!) such records so far as they relate to RAAF personnel.
This has infuriated me, my grandfather flew with an Australian squadron and i can access his pilots records but i cant view his records because of him being RAF…… Its stupid really, would of thought after all these years they could release this kind of information.
There is even a digital copy on line…..
Nice pictures, whenever i see images like this it always makes me wonder what happened to the crews, did they survive the war? Unfortunately for some no doubt they wouldn’t of……

Nothing is wrong with this forum, Its no different to the Manchester City forum i post on. Posters come and go, You will get differences of opinion (would be boring if everybody agreed all the time!), Cliques will form from groups of like minded posters and you will get people who have been around for sometime with high post counts thinking that they are indispensable to the forum (and no i’m not having a dig at anybody!). This place is fine with a excellent wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of aviation. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it…………..

I watched the Dawlish airshow this year from the comfort of my mothers house, didn’t pay a penny! I must be some sort of horrible person freeloading a free airshow!! 😉

Makes me think it is some form of training unit or maintenance unit with all the different aircraft types there.
The fat one had Manfred Von Richthofen’s walking stick or geschwaderstock as it was known, wonder what happened to that after the war…. would be a interesting piece to own.
