I lived in Chorley for 6 months in 1997 in a bungalow bordering that large park you have..the one with swans in the little lake near the middle. I worked in a pub on the other side of the park…it was frequented by off-duty policemen. Do you know the name of the pub? I can’t remember it’s name. If you have pictures of that park it would really bring back a floud of memories..it had a large path/road running through it..

Boknaai HAHAHA!!! 😀 Does anyone know what that small turret/radome is above the nose? I’ve never seen it before. Also, what exactly is in the cheek sponsons…extra avionics, ammo, fuel? I’ve also heard that the Mokopa heavy anti tank missile has a longer range than Hellfire…does anyone know the stats on this missile? I know that it has a tandem warhead..is it laser guided or radar guided?
A-darter test…
anyway..back to Brazil & South Africa..another pic of A-Darter wuth R-Darter..
A-Darter..
That would be the R-Darter.Politically, I think South Africa is moving closer to Brazil and India to get some form of non aligned bloc going. All three are relatively powerful medium to large sized economies with relatively high economic growth.India has already bought a few South African weapon systems (Casspir..artillery?).What would really be nice is if they would finish development of that ramjet powered long range BVR missile that Denel/Kentron were looking at.That would provide some seriously long range reach to any fighter operated by their airforces.
When there was trouble in The Middle East between Israel and Egypt in 1973 , almost all shipping was rerouted via the Cape of Good Hope. As it is , there are VLCC that are too big to go via Suez and have to be routed via the Cape. So it straddles one of the most important shipping routes in the world.I personally don’t think South Africa spends enough on its Navy…it always comes third after the Army and Airforce.Submarines are also a relatively “stealthy” force multiplier and thus make perfect sense for a smaller navy ….
I’ve been waiting for medium sized growing economies like Brazil and South Sfrica to start co-operating…it just makes so much sense. I wonder if all this supposed co-operation is as a result of trying to forge that non-aligned movement a year or two back…I think it also included India.
