A Nice walk around the MFI Mig 1.44:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBB33mzgwfk
PS, those AL-41F looks huge!
At 4:25 onwards in the video, there is a data placard.
I’ve never seen proper details of the 1.44 ever released.
Are these figures accurate? Can somebody translate them here please?
Denel Dynamics to test Marlin BVR missile technology in September
Written by Guy Martin, Monday, 17 August 2015
Denel Dynamics will conduct missile flight tests of its new Marlin missile system in September and November this year ahead of a first guided test flight in November 2016, where it will be demonstrated against a moving target.
At the moment Denel Dynamics is working on a technology demonstrator missile, and plans to conduct a fly-over test in September and a seeker head test in November, according to Jaco Botha, Chief Programme Manager.
The 80-100 kilometre range Marlin radar-guided air-to-air missile is being developed by Denel Dynamics under an Armscor/Department of Defence technology demonstrator contract. Denel Dynamics will be using a dual pulse rocket motor on the Marlin (this uses two fuel chambers and one exhaust nozzle) for extended range.
Ultimately Denel Dynamics aims to combine the Marlin and A-Darter missiles into a multirole airborne weapons system containing infrared and radar seekers and most likely with a ram rocket motor. This would be realised in around a decade’s time.
Marlin can also be configured into an all-weather surface-to-air missile. Common subsystems will be used for the different variants of the weapon, with some components derived from the A-Darter and Denel’s Umkhonto surface-to-air missile.
Denel released a test video of the Umbani/Al Tariq bomb being launched from a Hawk in April.
Actually, I think that is 7 J-15’s….another is on the elevator in front of the island.
The aft elevator is also down for a reason….perhaps bringing up another?
6 J-15’s, a large Super Frelon/Z-8, and two Kamovs.
Things seem to be moving ahead.
So what was my view? That upset you so much ? Our fighters need to verify and contact other aircrafts in our airspace ? And if they do not respond and are heavy bombers (who could destoroy a large city) shoot them down ?
Wake up dude, all countries do that.
It is not allowed to bring a war aircraft without transponder and without permission into someones airspace and if they do, they have to face consequences. A Simple and a most ordinary respons. Thats the whole thing about sending interceptors on short notice. Or else you could just aircraft blitz evey city of your liking and roll in the tanks.ok this sentence where to short “They have to be shot down in time if the threat is real.” But is contains “shot down in time” (as in if they turn in against a city) and the fighters get no response from the other pilots.(threat is real)
More ridiculousness.
..but did not quite enter Swedish airspace, according to the country’s Supreme Commander Sverker Göranson.
You normaly do not send supersonic long range bombers on someones backyard……It is to aggravate or to irritate and is seen in military language as offensive, yes. They have to be shot down in time if the threat is real.
Its not just that, they interfere with flight space and with normal passager planes, as they run without transponder turned on….like its ******* war or something. That is disrespectful towards human life.
Completely ridiculous.
On a related Gripen news flash today a pair of Gripens had to repel two russian T-22 Backfires flying in the vicinity of southern Öland. If you know your Swedish geography you will realise they had no buisness being there….
Oland is that long thin island in the Baltic Sea, right?
..but did not quite enter Swedish airspace, according to the country’s Supreme Commander Sverker Göranson.
Are you saying they had no business flying in international airspace?
Thanks Deino.
I know it is comprehensively different (glass cockpit, composites, new engines… etc) but it really is amazing testimony to the soundness of Tupolevs basic design, which also first flew in the same month as the first B-52 prototype, all the way back in 1952.
This must be some type of record for a military aircraft, surely.
Deino, is there any info out there on whether the H-6K bomber is a newbuild airframe, or a conversion?
From what I can gather on the net, it appears as if they are new airframes?
If India does not want the Rafale. There is only one fighter it can quickly induct without all the hassle of another competition. That is the Super Hornet. Just a few calls to Obama some negotiations and the deal signed using the FMS route.
When was the last fixed wing combat aircraft that India purchased from the US?
World War 2 era?
Apart from a few recent purchases of US transports/patrol/helicopters, India has typically steered well clear of US types.
I don’t think the sanctions placed before on India will be so easily forgotten.
Naturally, I might be wrong, but from Indias point of view, placing a large important order with such a history would not be the smartest move, considering the potential tensions in the region.
There are some sports which I enjoy watching.
Rugby, Golf and Tennis are not amongst them.
I like Cricket, and played many years ago for a local club. I have tried to understand Rugby, but gave up.
It’s a pity, as it is a magnificent sport to play and to watch.
The comraderie between opposing fans at a rugby match is brilliant, always friendly, and many a time I’ve been bought a pint by a random stranger wearing the oppositions jersey just for the hell of it.
As they say, the aggro happens on the field…apart from some good natured banter, none of the off-field horror shenanigans that sometimes occur in other field sports happens.
Whilst some of the scrum and ruck laws are intricate, you may start with the very basics, such as the fact that the ball can never go forward from your hands, either a forward pass or dropping it forward, and the fact that in open play away from the scrums, lineouts, and rucks, you can only tackle the man with the ball in open play.
No blocking or obstructing in open play, in other words.
Start with the simple basics, and you’ll pick up the rest as you go along…
In many ways, rugby is a very innovative sport, since going professional.
The use of technology is way ahead of a lot of other field sports.
Next Sunday is Ireland vs England, in Dublin, the only two undefeated teams left.
It’ll be a cracker.
