Thanks Pagen01. Any info on who we might need to contact at Sultan?
Thanks to everyone who has provided leads and contact info. We’ll follow these up and let you know how we get on.
After a few calls we have found out that the aircraft at Predannack are under the control of DE&S.
Can anyone help with a contact at DE&S who we can speak to / write about the possibility of getting some spare parts for our GR3 XV752?
Stacey24b.
Thanks for all the help it’s very much appreciated.
New scheme has been revealed.
Re: HQAC CRO 03/13 ORDER NO 9. GROUND INSTRUCTIONAL AIRCRAFT (GIA)/GATE GUARDIANS
That was certainly the case when Harrier GR3 XV72 was moved from 2366 (Bletchley Park) ATC to Aeroventure, where it is the responsibility 1053 (Armthorpe) – Air Cadets Squadron, but is on loan to the Museum. Special dispensation had to be given by both the MOD who still own the airframe and HQ Air Cadets.
Heard and interview with the undertaker on Radio 5 last night. They are now expecting hundreds of people to attend the funeral including representatives of the RAFA, RAFBF, RBL, RAF ans the Army!
The following http://www.felstedremembers.uwclub.net/GEbert.htm lists the crew on the night that ED586 EM-F was lost as:
Pilot – Flight Lieutenant George Henry Ebert DFC RAF
2nd Pilot aboard for experience – Wing Commander Ashley Duke Jackson MiD RAF
Flight Engineer – Sergeant Bernard Owen Greenhill RAF
Navigator – Flight Sergeant Fred Thomas Murray Sidebotham RAFVR
Air Bomber -Flying Officer Peter Noel Hodgson RAFVR
Wireless Operator – Flight Sergeant Jack Thomas Toplis RAFVR
Mid Upper Gunner – Sergeant Aubrey Harris Miller RAFVR
Rear Gunner – Flight Sergeant Alfred John Simmons RAFVR
The aircraft took off from RAF Spilsby in Lincolnshire just minutes before midnight on 6th January 1944. The aircraft was shot down in the target area of Stettin, which was then part of Germany.
Does anyone know if it was the same crew who flew Wynford Vaughan-Thomas on his raid to Berlin who were flying E586 when she went missing on 6th Jan 1944?
Brief Video of the first aircraft landing on the Chinese carrier here.
BBC are reporting Vulcan bomber XH558 to be grounded. XH558 will fly for the final time next year.

XV752 will be dismantled at Bletchley Park i.e wing off and loaded to a lo-loader over the weekend of 3rd-4th Dec 2011. She will depart for her new home on 5th Dec2011. All we need now is a replica of a Spit or Hurri to replace her !!!!
As I understand it agreement has almost been reached for 752 to go into presevation at a museum. However please don’t ask where as I am not at liberty to divulge that information! Thanks to all who showed an interest and support.
XV752 is certainly not runnable and never was. All systems were inhibited by the RAF prior to delivery.
