And the Hunter…

Photos from today, interspersed with heavy rainshowers… 🙂

The Red Arrows put on another fantastic display at Kemble this afternoon. Unfortunately the weather was not on their side, but they did their best !!

I also forgot to mention earlier that the static display and viewing area is on the grassed area abeam the main road. This will put the sun in the most favourable area for photographers and those who hate squinting in general. 😎
Gates open at 9am, display flying starts at 1pm. Get there early !!
Hmmm – Australians have got it all upside down…
I suggest that the Red Arrows are too important for PR and recruiting to let go.
And I almost forgot, sorry !! Utterly Butterly.
I left fairly early before all of the static aircraft were positioned.
Of note there was;
RAF Tucano (2), Hercules, VC10, Canberra, Hawk (2), Harrier, Tornado (2), RN Jetstream.
Belgian Fouga Magister (famous for super low sustained takeoff) was also displaying his routine.
Red Bull aerobatic Extra and Edge 540. Super bright yellow Yak-52…
Delta Jets had a big black T-bird Hunter (G-VETA?), and Red Gnat, also saw some Strikemasters/JP’s. I’m not sure about a camo Hunter…
I suggest the main benefits from the drivers seat, will be the extra performance available, along with the reduced fuel bill. Also, your grin upon greasing her in will be visible to others for miles around (assuming a CAVOK day)…
While the Kiwi dollar is low in value compared to the Aussie Dollar, then it is great for New Zealand and poor for Australia.
New Zealand would also have to seriously listen to the Australian Government’s concerns about it’s participation in certain areas (eg. defence).
If you want to be in a team, you should be a team player.
And best of all, you don’t have to be a trained pilot to do it.
In many cases, that would probably work to your advantage.
Imagine scoring a GUNS KILL on your Boss, who’s bragged about his PPL for years…
Here’s a two seat Extra 300 painted up in a similarly high viz scheme…
I believe Brett Emeny’s Vampire is based at/near New Plymouth.
Yes, the guys at Ardmore are all excellent ambassadors for aviation. Anyone who lets me fly with them can’t be all that bad. Top people all round.
Here’s some photos of relevance from Wanaka 2004.
Janie, it was tricky. How many guys do you know that have successfully scored the use of an Iroquois and a Hercules to use as camera ships? I’ll be paying the crew in beers for years to come….
By the way, who is THIS landing Ray’s Boeing in a slightly wing low fashion. There was no crosswind. 🙂
Here’s an Orion (in the background)
and a few more…
