M4000 had a fixed canard. It may not be as good as the M2000 or F-15 in manueverability. Its radome is bigger than the Rafale’s. Every fighter’s radome is bigger than rafale’s.

J-20 canard is not stealth when it deflect? What if it is fixed like Kfir?

Is there a standard test for RCS?
Why is all these RCS info leak in this forum?

    seriously, put jokes aside.

I think the chinese know what they are doing. they didnt build an aircraft and say “****, that is too big” After all, they spent billions of dollar and years of hard work. With computer simulation, i bet they know roughly the characteristics of the aircraft before it fly.

Looking back at history, wheater fighters or interceptors, they has been getting bigger and bigger. For a stealth aircraft, they want more internal fuel and range. With today’s high boresight and all aspect short range missile, turning fight is may be less important.

Why can’t the chinese do this right?
First they built j-20 too long, now they make j-21 too short.

    They need a ruler?:D

wing span to length ratio is not always the good eyeballer indicator for interceptor

interceptor Mig-25: good wing span/ length
    dogfighter j-10, f-20, f-5, f-18, short wingspan/length ratio

    It is evolution of design.

Just my opinon. Here are some aircrafts are more similar to each other than (j-10 and Lavi, FC-1 and Mig-21)

    Mirageiii and F102
    su-9 and mig-21
    mystere and mig-15
    spitfire and ME109,
    Tu-160 and b-1
    mig-25, f-15 and A-5
    su-24 and f-111

I don’t know if there are connection between J-10 and Lavi. Maybe they have. My point is that there are not so many designs that use (chin intake, canard delta). Imaging that most of the fighter aircrafts in the world are chin intake and canard dlta and there are only a few aircrafts with side intake like mig-25 and f-15. Then people will say F-15 is a direct copy of mig-25.

    Chinese Airforce 60th Anniversary Airshow – J-10A Flight Demonstration – Part-1 : Link (That’s a pretty good turn at 9:21)

    Chinese Airforce 60th Anniversary Airshow – J-10A Flight Demonstration – Part-2 : Link

good show, but the hosts or broacasters sounded like retards. what is with them saying vectoring trust… and when they saw it flys at high AOA, they think it was climbing.

What is the time for it to do 360? anyone know?

That is pretyy silly treaty to ban it. It is like 2 guys try to kill each other, but they agreed to to hit each other on the faces.

you mean if Su-37 want a short take off, its vector nozzles point downward?

is the position of the canard above the main wing better or just in the same level of the wing, like the x-29 and many Russian fighters?

Why not put more missiles on top of the wings, like the Lightening, and Jagaur? or under the intake like f-14, or wing tips?

Does it reduce lift if put too many missiles so closely under the wings?
R-77 folds grids forward? give you more drag?

I am confused. Is wingload related to wing area, or wing spins or lift? Tornado and su24 has small wings, but have a lot of lift. It looks like f-16 have longer wing span. But wing area, it is hard to tell

Sea harrier (less powerful engine) is a small aircraft compare to j-10. It used it raw power to takeoff from jump ski. What is its radius of action?

Isn’t a canard and delta suppose to give it shorter landing speed?

I know that a afterburner would make it heavy, but adding it will help the aircraft performance in case if it gets into a fight. It entered service in 1978, but its perormance is like fighters in late 50s. Wouldn’t it make more sense just modified F-8E to fire anti ship missiles. Then you have a better fighter and also attacker.

another aircraft would be F-5. it looks like its body can create some lift.

It looks like most of the fuel tanks that aircrafts carry don’t have have any lift contribution. Against the “area rule”?
