An agreement/contract does not have to be written a verbal contract is legally enforceable the biggest problem is finding evidence to support that an agreement had been made. In this case I would have thought large numbers of people were aware of the agreement even if it was verbal.

“Judicial review is a type of court proceeding in which a judge reviews the lawfulness of a decision or action made by a public body. In other words, judicial reviews are a challenge to the way in which a decision has been made, rather than the rights and wrongs of the conclusion reached.”

How can a council destroy what is an excellent local attraction, you would have thought they would want people to come to visit.

I wonder if this “demand” is actually a legal move to ensure that a new lease is not created by continuous occupation.

Has the local MP made any statements on the subject?

I wonder if the council will be able to legally destroy the exhibits. The laws on trespass can be complicated and have certainly changed since I looked at them some considerable time ago.

Definitely a case for national media coverage, although I am sure they will already have this in hand.

Yes, couldn’t agree more. Staff are very knowledgeable and very happy to spend time with you and bring you up to date. We spent over two hours in the Vulcan and other staff had to come and get us out at closing time. Usually drop in on our way back from DX.

Certainly very good news although the date does also cause conflicts for me. Most FRIAT members will have bought their tickets long ago, although I have not, yet, as couldn’t take the heat last year and had to come home. A draw for RIAT this year is all the extra movements and planes relating to the Ukraine war. Slava Ukraini!

I would really like to support FL it is really important this first one with the hope it will be a success which will be repeated. And it is much closer, for me anyway.

I suppose northern aviation enthusiast will be keen to go if they were not able to make the journey down south.

It is really sad that that IWM did this. I haven’t renewed our membership since FL stopped at DX. They totally destroyed Lambeth and Manchester is just a joke.

Presumably, we can get info on air show attendance at DX by making an FOI enquiry ?

It will be interesting to see how it develops.

It was because of contributions made by Peter and a core number of others like him that made me gravitate to the forum, as was, and eventually join. I came to learn and this was the best place to do it. I was grateful that these forumites freely gave of their knowledge and experience. It is so sad to see the forum as it is now.

Ok, looking through Alice’s looking glass…….

Only one exists, and it is an interesting aircraft.

Made by Blackburn at Brough, which has gone the way of many historic sites, or assembled there.

Personally I think museums have a duty to hold for posterity important artifacts.

This being an aeroplane would fall into the remit of the RAF Museum and The Science Museum.

The Science Museum has the Large Exhibits Store on a whole airield.

So at the very least could not an RAF Chinook airlift the Beverely, in several parts, to the LES.

There is masses of space and very many hangars, but I would imagine that the hangars are already full.

Pause, just drying my eyes. image-20230116221243-1 I am so out of date!

It’s now the Science Museum Group, ’cause it is. And the LES is now rebranded the National Collections Centre, NCC.

It’s location is RAF Wroughton but I now see that half of the airfield has been covered in solar panels and any hope of flying anything in is lost as they have built a new large building that, together with the solar panels, obstruct all the runways.

There does remain some open space onto which the Beverly could be lowered.

Still out in the open but at least not scrapped.

I have to say that Elvington would really be the best place being close to Brough but I understand that they have declined it. But if the RAF moved it is there not some corner at Elvington that the Beverley could be placed in the hope that some day a group might be formed to at least put it back together again and make it safe. Of course it has got to be taken apart in the first place. Why not RAF apprentices, would it not be good hands on training both in disassembling/assembling and the safe use of heavy machines.

Ah well, back to the real world. image-20230116223325-2

So, the link I was using on Flickr was    https://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?145051-AVRO-hangars-for-…

And the new link is                                    https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/148567-avro-hangars-for-sale?page=0

I have tried substituting the large number in the new link but that comes up “not found”. However, changing “page=0” to “page=3” takes me to the page where my contribution starts. Mind you could have seen that by just looking at the URL for page 3. image-20230116204039-1

Yes sad news and wish him blue skies. Unfortunately, like the others, not suitable for Legends but you have to respect the choice made by the organiser it was his show which, very sadly, now appears lost. I haven’t attended an airshow at Duxford since and have not renewed my IWM membership as they have completely ruined Lambeth, IWM North is total rubbish and have got rid of Legends.

Would a casting number relate it to a specific plane?
