Another vote for first light. Another good one is Tom neils book gun button to fire. Great read.
Sorry but no plans to rebuild this aircraft. We simply do not have the funds or abilities to do that.
The engine wasnt onshow because it was too large for the event building. We are however hoping to have it at east fortune airshow this year.
Check out the thread below to see more pictures of the exhibition today.

And the other pictures. Didnt know we had a 20 picture limit but suppose it saves flooding the forum with photos I suppose.

Hi all,
Just thought I would update you all on the first quite successful day of our exhibition. So without further ado here are some photos.
Some parts you might recognise others you wont.

Most of the photos dont show the crowds of people we actually had the room stuffed full of vistitors on a number of occasions but obviously I wasnt able to operate the camera while trying to mingle too.
There may be another one with it that says + MIC –
Its one of the backplates for the Mic/Tel terminal blocks for the pilots headset.
Bruce
I have another somewhere as I saw the mic and tel on it and wondered if it might be for the headset. I really have no idea where it is though.

You could go to The John Grey Centre, Haddington, Web Site and they will have all the details there.
Here is the link to the page.
I tried to add the Poster for Merlin 3945’s Exhiblition but the new Forum wont work!
Hopefully the poster should now appear below.
Mods please let me know if this breaks any forum rules.

but the few who don’t are free to make a choice.
Charlie as are you free to make the choice!
Please dont let us stop you!
Me personally I find the new forum easy to read and less cluttered.
Its early days and a few button changes and what not are all that is needed.
It may not suit everyones tastes but you will get used to it in time and we certainly dont want to lose any members over it.
As the mods keep saying just let the webmaster know if you thing there is anything wrong.

We’ve always had much respect for the family’s wishes but recent developments are for all the wrong reasons, unfortunately. The project involves a great many companies organisations and individuals who have worked damned hard towards a certain goal so it is more than a little unreasonable to try and move the goalposts at this late stage. Hopefully common sense will prevail and, in the meantime, thanks for your support. Much appreciated.
I was in no way trying to say you have or had no respect. Neither was I trying to say that of the other member just simply that his comments could have been better put.
You and your team have a lot riding on this.
I can see how frustrating this must be for you.
I seriously hope sense will prevail and all is well in the end.
If she gets her way, just take it back out on the lake & sink it.
ZRX61 I think that is a little unfair.
Just remember who SHE is and have a little respect for her wishes.
I am and always have been a supporter of Bluebird and I too wish to see her as run on Coniston so I am in no way trying to derail Bill’s teams attempts to run Bluebird in Coniston.
I just think you should have a little respect for the families wishes even if it means that they are going against the flow.
Good luck with the project Bill/Mike and team.
The other item in photo 1 is an oxygen connector, not a lamp holder. Probably from the end of the flexible pipe attached to the economiser, and to which the pilot “hooked up” to the oxygen supply.
Ah thanks for that. I never considered that at all. Looks the right size and shape for a lamp holder and the fact that its a bayonet cap type fitting too.
All makes sense.
A flap section too wow didnt think that either. The reason I presumed it was from the seat was that this was found wedged in between a cockpit section and had to be virtually cut from the middle of it. In fact right where the heated gloves and boots socket is. Sometimes things are not what they seem.
Thanks guys. Over the next few days I will post some more for you all.
I have a feeling you may all be more interested by what we have over at the yard.
I wont be over there until perhaps after our exhibition on the first weekend of May.
But I will get pictures for you all.
More parts.
Some more parts for you. But sorry no instrument panel yet. I need to dig it out of a couple of places before I can photgraph it.
First up a lamp holder and I presume something from the panel.

Next I am presuming again something to do with the seat? Perhaps?

Close up of the plate.

Sorry about the blurry photo. There are 5 parts here and next photo is a close up of the plate. The other plate just say gen fuse type etc.

The piece on the right as you can see had wire attached to it.

The pipe on the left says suction on its tag and the other delivery on its tag.
The black insulation tape was added for my own safety because as anyone who has handled degraded wire braid pipe
will know its bloody sharp and sticks into you at any given time. As these are going to be on display I thought it best
to cover what I could while leaving the nice parts ie the fittings and tag exposed.

This is from the area of the pressure head heater switch which you can see the remains of in a various items photo further up on here.
I have another tag similar to this in size which say something along the lines of switch off at master contactor after flight.

These fittings are really big when you compare them to all the hydraulic fittings you have seen so far.

Close up of valve.

Almost complete and untouched by the crash or corrosion.

Thats it for now but plenty more to post if you would like.
Will do Ian,
far from complete but quite a lot of it there along with several instrument faces.
Sorry guys too much to do and so little time to do it in.
I will try and post more tomorrow night when I get in earlier from work.
