    Glasgow Airport Terrorist

I have been to this airport and used the facilities and indeed used that exact door that was wrecked.

I have many many friends, workmates and customers that had used that very door only a matter of minutes before the attack or whom were waiting to arrive via aircraft or indeed were just arriving at the airport when this happend. Non of the people I know were hurt in the attack but I for one wish this terrorist the happiest time of his life (or should that be afterlife) in HELL:diablo:

And my reason for this is not just that he was a terrorist this I could understand a bit better as they have a cause which normally comes from a type of brainwashing used on the weak and vunrable.

This was not the case with these men. They were educated DOCTORS whom have taken the oath to SAVE lives not TAKE them and for this they should burn in hell for eternity.

I cannot and will not see the views any differently as these men were far beyond the normal type of garden variety terrorist.

Am I glad he is dead yes and no. Yes because we dont need to spend any more money on his security etc and no because he didnt get to meet any of his intended victims family in BARR L.

    Hi guys

I am bumping this one back to the top of the board

    A) to let others see some info on Scottish wrecks

    and

    B) I dont think we got to the bottom of what was the earliest aircraft wreck in Scotland.

The earliest one I have been to was the 1928 ANEC Missel thrush.

    any older than that.

Email the PM like I did and ask them to relocate the hangar as I am sure there are quite a lot of civil airport who would love a hangar of this standard. I know these hangars can be saved as it has been done on so many sites before.

Despite what some will try and convince you, ex-Swiss Hunters like Miss Demeanor can’t do it because of the blast deflectors.

Now correct me if I am wrong. I think I have heard Miss D produce the blue note and I think I have it on video. Oh well must drag out all the old airshow videos again. My wife will be pleased.

I shall look out the vids and listen closely.

    keep you posted.

From what I can see it was a Meteor and parts of it still exist.

Have a look on http://www.airliners.net and do a search for WM234.

It shows the nose wheel section was swapped onto another aircraft.

If you ever want to know about a serial number generally google is a good place to so a search. If you put in “aircraft” and the “WM234” the search is pretty good. Occasionally the serial information can be wrong so it is still worth a check on here to see if the info is correct.

Last movie I tried to watch was Jarhead. I was too tired to watch it and fell asleep. So the last actual movie I watched was Silent Hill.

I never actually played the games but had played the original demo for playstation but didnt think the film would do it justice.

All I can say was that I was wrong. It actually tied up a lot of loose ends for me and the effects were good as were some of the creatures. Especially like the the skinned body scene outside the church. Very creepy or eerie in parts.

Only one think I enjoyed more than the film and that was the making of the film. After I watched the film I usually watch the extras and the making of was very good indeed especially when they show how the creatures were made and designed and then animated. Just that little bit more special seeing how it was done.

    For example.

an aircraft has a permit to fly but has an urgent technical problem that requires fixing.

    A) the aircraft is still on the online register as permit to fly.

    B) the technical problem quite clearly grounds the aircraft until it is fixed. ie NOT airworthy.

so in effect the aircraft is on the register as permit to fly but is not airworthy.

so searching the online documents really doesnt mean much (in this case) unless the are maintained in real time which I know they are not.

Finally we actually see the thread kicking off properly with questions and proper answers.

It really sucks when people just put any old crap on the forum instead of answering the post.

Well don to the guys who put helpful post up like look up the website and look up g-info and why not phone the company and ask which all seem like reasonable answers.

But is really asking the owner of the aircraft which aircraft are airworthy really the best possible use of his time. And by about the tenth phone call to ask exactly the same question he is going to be really pleased isnt he.

And btw G-Info only lets you know when the CofA expiry is or the permit to fly depending on what scheme you are on but it does NOT say if an aircraft is airworthy or not.

There are plenty aircraft on the register not airworthy but still have a permit to fly.

Anyhow part of the reason I dont post much here anymore is exactly what happened at the start of the post. funny answers to a simple question or dont we do decent answers anymore.

    Hi Slummer

Firstly to save you a hell of a lot of time.

You could put a post up here if you have an ID on the wreck as someone may have already done all the research and found it. They might even be kind enough to share the information and if not then you have lost nothing but an ID anyway.

Also try RAF commands forum the lads on their know pretty much everything there is to know or know someone who does.

Also if you have an ID then try and get the local Police reports these are sometimes more accurate than foreign military reports and also sometimes even more accurate than our RAF reports.

All these reports will have a location on them more than likely. Usually they are a bit like this (2 miles NW of cambridge) Which gives a very big area to search but if you have a rough location try asking locals as there is usually someone who knows or grandad who knows.

If you can get the US report these are very precise, Perhaps not giving you the location but the reports I have seen are very good.

Apart from that it just hard work and lots of long walks.

    Good luck

    Hi Snapper,

You can take me of the list as I never got the camera.

I think Al had planned to get it to me and I seem to remember an email in which I asked him to email me when he had finished and we would meet and have a pint at the same time.

    Never got the email.

*To finally go to Old Warden as i have wanted to for years.

Cmon you have no excuse at all being form Croydon.

Me and the missus went last for the first show in 2006 and we live near Edinburgh.

And it wasnt a quick 5 + 1/2 hours down the a1 it was the long way round. Over to the M6, M5, M4 to Warminster to our digs for the week which is a 8hour plus journey then stop overnight and then another 3 hour journey through Milton Keynes to Biggleswade. But it was well worth the effort and highly recommended.

Just get yourself up there man. You will not regret it.

if you mention the hawker hurricane (the true hero)

Hawker Hurricane the true hero you got to be kidding me!!

The true Hero’s are 6 feet under or at least a lot of them are and the survivors getting fewer every year. It is the men who flew these machines that are the true heros and never should one forget.

Ok I might just be getting shirty over this thread but planes are machines and while we all get attached to inanimate objects over the years my full and complete repect goes to every last one of those brave young men that fought and died for us.

and I might just let you get away with saying that these aircraft became icons of the Battle of Britain which indeed they were.
