They don’t build ’em to last these days, wouldn’t this be music to Sandy’s ears if he was still around
No it wouldn’t because I’ve had this discussion on another forum, where I disclosed that the A320 was sitting at Opa Locka, with at least three Boeing 735s,three years newer than the ‘bus, and they’re being scrapped too!
I make that Boeing -3 Airbus -1 😀
Ah, I expected this sort of negative reaction from a non-enthusiast. In that case, why bother to bring it? 🙁
It’s quicker than the train? :diablo:
Just trying to work out why another photo was added to this thread nearly a year after it was first posted! 😀
Yes ,you’re certainly more observant than I am! Perhaps the first photos were the FIRST A330(although it has Butterfly Orchid captioned),and the new additional photo is the FOURTH aircraft which is the REAL Butterfly Orchid?
I really should pay more attention!
Edited to say that the FIRST A330 entered service in July 2004,so the first pics must be from that time. D’oh! I never even noticed the two sets of pics were different liveries!
A commitment is first off all non-binding
So we now know that a commitment is NOT a commitment   !!!!!!!!!!!
Well,I hadn’t actually seen that! I did ask if it was on the opposite side to Charlwood House, which it is! Apologies to one and all! I had been planning a visit, and had looked at a map previously, but missed the ‘Mus’ then too.
Well, looks like south to me,presuming the maps the right way up! Unless of course the museum is not on the same side as Charlwood village/House?
Let’s have a vote!
It is actually the FOURTH A330 in the fleet. The celebration was the Butterfly Orchid scheme. Not sure if the other A330s are also in (other) orchid schemes though. Link to story here—-

‘And for a little nosey, try the Gatwick Aircraft Museum at Charlwood (immediately to the north of the 08 thresholds)’
You sure that’s not SOUTH?
the vickers vimy will depart st john’s, newfoundland go across the atlantic to clifden in county galway, ireland. Assuming a successful crossing the aircraft is hoped to make a final tour of the UK before it’s retired from flying and put into a museum, for updates goto http://www.aeroplanemonthly.com. THe vimy has already flown the first two legs of the Vimy triple crown historic flights England-Australia 1994 and London-Cape town in 1999, after it’s 1999 flight from england to south africa it was re-egined with a 600hp orenda powerplants.
so if all goes well you may well see a vimy flying in the u.k. 🙂
I couldn’t find any updates on your link. It just directs you to the link I provided, which tells you nothing about the plans following the crossing, other than it’s coming to England.
Great Stuff
What is going to happen to it when it arrives? Will it be joining the european display circuit or it to return to the US?
also is this the same aircraft as i remember seeing at Biggin Hill in 1996?
Jay
Yes,this aircraft was built in 1994,and was the one which flew to Australia, and South Africa on two separate occasions. It is,I believe the only flying Vimy.
It is due to come to England after the crossing, but don’t know the details.
ok buggerit! here’s my tupenth worth.
When I read about the latest plans to get 558 back in the air the press release plainly stated they have “secured enough funding to START work on bringing it back to airworthiness” or words to that effect…..]
That clearly states they don’t have the money to finish the job….. end of argument.
I’m sorry, but that isn’t the end of the argument.
They couldn’t START the rebuild until they had raised the amount which the Lottery Fund required them to raise. Now that they have ,the Fund will release their part of the funding, which,I believe covers the whole project. If I am wrong, please correct me.
God,is he trying hard or what? Try sticking the thumb out! 🙂
Now that would be a BBBBBIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGG container!
Just found that, but you beat me to it! Link here–
Yes,it’s pretty poor, but surely there will be increased coverage when the aircraft actually gets airborne? You can follow the flight on my link(I think!).
