Engines still in???? to be honest I have never looked but the last memeber of staff I talked too said they were putting a team together to maybe get her running? This was 2 years ago and how true this was I dont know…..but if there were ever an effort to get her moving I would be more than willing to help, the only other 2 lightnings near me are the ones at Aeroventure and I doubt either of these will make it to any form of live state
Thankyou for the replys, will be investigating this one shortly…..
Cheers
Tangmere,
I have it in a crash log that the 2 JL serial beaus crashed in a mid air colision near RAF Bircotes, From your info this seems it may not be the case after all, at least it will save me going on a wild gooses chase:)
I’m still after the book ” the beaufigter crash logs ” if anyone has a copy they want to sell.
T-21 Many thanks, do you have any info on JL520 and JL120 please?
The basic shape of the aircraft is now taking shape

I was spaeaking to someone at Elvington last year and he said they were just waiting for the green light to go and get it
I think the Seafire 17 was one of the best looking of all the spit/seafire family, The Mk47 was allso I great aircraft, I think one of the problems with the seafire was that they were a little too late to really do anything in the war after the weak fuselarge problem had been sorted, I allso agree with the landing issue:D
Mark 12 Point taken, I understand wot you mean reading it agian.
Could the pictures that you have posted be in the Hangar I was in yesterday? the frame work at the top of the hangar looks very similar to me
best way I would think is to use Tamiya masking tape, its great stuff, very plyable and wont fetch your paint off when removing, it comes in rolls of yellow tape, can get it from most toy/model shops
Mark 12, I would say Cranwell is at least 50 miles from Norton by road may be more, from the Air may be 30 ish but theres no runway at Norton, have a look from google earth
The double hangar at Norton, its not your typical type hangar, any ideas?

Thanks for your kind comments, was my first build since been a teenager, i am now 30:rolleyes:
