I use a mixture of polly cement and super glue for the plastics, I use the super glue for little fiddly bits (Q-bond great stuff) plus you will need super glue for resin parts.
PVA for any transparancies, takes a while to set but dosent cause any frosting like superglue does.
thanks Yorkie
it’s all a bit of a minefield, the review I read on the Tamiya said the undercarriage and wheels were wrong or are aftermarket parts available for it
your Revell bf109F sounds good, does it look like everything fits well?
what I’d like is a kit that doesn’t need loads of filler and modifying requiring skills I’ve probably long forgotten
Not started it yet, from looking at the sprues it looks nice with lots of detail for not much money. Ill be posting up with it soon.
Thankyou for your kind words, believe me though im no modeling expert. The results i’ve achieved (half decent ) can be achieved by anyone 🙂
May be a flying he 219?????? :diablo:
tamiya all the way for me on the 190, the dora model is a lovely kit, as for 109
, the revell kit im just starting is hasegawa mould, so cheap and good quality
Mk22 just waiting its canopy

Seafire is now done, I think when i do another, may change a few things next time, I ‘m happy with how this one has come out though.

D
Looking very nice! Think I’ll do mine with wings folded, canopy open, but I’ll attack the canopy with my trusty file to make it sit better seeing as I’m a tight Yorkshireman and refuse to pay for another canopy!
Dont be so tight! In yorkshire 2:)
Showing differences in the canopys, the top pic is the supplied Airfix item, sits far too high, though i now believe Airfix have fixed this on the new Seafire 17. Bottom pic is of the Aeroclub vacform item, sits much lower.

The Seafire FR 47 now very nearly finsihed……………

Seafire now up on its gear for the first time 🙂 Nearly there with this one, Sliding Hood to add, Rockets and rails, and few little bits more.

Mk22 now fully painted up and ready for decals to be added

The varnish hasnt setteled quite right while drying, dried more patchy then a nice even surface, ive flatted it back and redone it, looks better
Wheathered and had a coat of flat varnish, not completely happy with how the varnish has gone on……………:( cockpit opened up again

I’ve been mulling this over for weeks, what does the floor polish do?
As Paul says, Decals are best put on to very shiny surface, the theorey is that you get no silvering of the backing film, very gloss surface reduces air bubbles been trapped under the decals.
As you can seen from the tail shot, the Airfix stripes are very translucent.
Did alittle bit more tonite, Finished the decals off. I removed the wing roundels and painted white underneath were the new ones are to be placed.
Tail hook is now added. Next will be some weathering then a coat of flat varnish. Prop is just stuck on with blue tack at mo  will be nice to see in cockpit again when masking is off.

Goin to have to do something about the wing roundels, start again with them 🙁
