I could think of a Dutch museum that could use any spare part for their C-121A (=N749NL)

    Guys,
is the camo scheme original? It is quite different from the scheme of our Dutch PH-FAI….

Nice shots of a very unusual aircraft. AFAIK we only had the long nosed variant in Europe.. It even carries its Air Express call sign Sierra-Juliet-Golf on the instrument panel!
    Thanks!

    Dutch Ryans…..

that are wrong colours the dutch never flew that aircraft in those colours. They only flew it in standard yellow/blue colours with US roundels and serials

I am sorry to correct you but the Dutch East Indies Air Force and Navy operated 108 !! Ryans, albeit the Menasco powered STM version…

One surviving Ryan (S-16) is under restoration at the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight at Gilze Rijen. (as PH-STM)

Here is a pic taken from their website

    N13FY at Lelystad

    Here is N13FY at Lelystad…..
The FY code is said to be meant as a middle finger for the authorities..
They did not want to give it a PH registration.

    Hello Mondariz,

may be “The United States Air Force in Korea 1950-1953” by Robert F Futrell would be an idea. It was published in a revised edition in 1983 by the Office of Air Force History, USAF, Washington, DC

I bought it years ago at Midland Counties for a mere L 19.95 (sorry, can’t find the Pound sign…)

    Cheers

    I promise I will………..

But the question came to my mind: what do the Israeli care for a Cat?
Did the IDFAF ever fly one??? I have never seen pictures of them..

    Spijker publication

The NVHK (the Dutch counterpart of Britain) published some info on Spijker

    http://luchtvaartkennis.net/projecten.html

If you can read Dutch is obvious, otherwise:
    Licence Farmans and Nieuports
    V-1: only prototype
V-2: 78 built for Dutch AF and Navy
    V-3: only prototype

Thanks to Anthony Fokker’s arrival in Holland Spijker went broke!

Hope this helps, otherwise PM me….

She will be restored for static display, I presume?
Is there already a museum that can house this veteran, like the dome in St Mere Eglise?

    Hi JJ,
I remember to have seen at least a Bf 109 and, very special, a Me 163 rocket fighter.. At the moment I can’t think of anymore…
But the rest is absolutely worthwile…
