Spotting at Bristol International Airport
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-11-02 AT 08:44Â PM (GMT)]I’ve only been to Bristol from your list:
There is no dedicated viewing area at Bristol although you can see the aircraft from the Cafe but as you are looking through two glass walls it is not good for photography.
An excellent place however is in the old car park outside the old terminal where (as long as the aircraft are landing on the right end of the runway) you can get an excllent view of take offs, landings and especially the approach. I was there for a couple of hours, during which a security Land Rover drove past and just looked at us without any concern – so I dont think they have a problem with people being there.
The traffic is regular and mainly consists of;
Charter:
MyTravel Airways, Britannia, JMC air, Air 2000 etc. with A320 family, 757s, and 737 aircraft.
Scheduled:
British Airways CitiExpress – BAe Jetstreams, lots of–> ERJs
Flybe – Dash 8 -200/300
Isles of Scilly SKYBUS – Twin Otter
Go-fly – 737s <——loads of
The above is only what I saw from one visit to Bristol so it wont include everything but should give an idea of the kind of traffic.
The runway at BRS is short so don’t expect any heavies.
I was very surprised of the change at BRS when I visited since the old terminal was closed – it really is like a new airport since the old terminal – much busier in terms of everything, not just the planes and much more up to date.
Attached is an example of the kind of photography you can take, and the photo shows how close the aircraft are from the Old Car Park.
