RE: Designing your own aircraft/airline.
Removing the original colour scheme seems to be the most time consuming part!
I’ve done a Boeing 747SP in flyby. colours, based on the new flybe. colours.
It’s the top one on my site,

also, don’t forget to check out the Air Old F.27, on the bottom!

RE: I’m Back!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-08-02 AT 04:55 PM (GMT)]A TriStar!, it must be safe if all those airlines operate from it.
It does look like quite a small runway though, this photo was taken from your fav a/c, a Saab 2000 on final’s for rw 09. The pilot in command must have been taking the photo, and not really concentrating, cos according to those PAPIs, he’s too high!

RE: I’m Back!
Thanks v. much for the info.
I did think Guernsey’s terminal looked a little old, especially compared to Jersey’s, so it’s good that a new one’s being built.
Wow, I didn’t think a 757/A320 would be able to get into Jersey!
I don’t think I’d feel that comfortable taking off & landing in that size a/c form Jersey, although I’m sure it’s safe.
RE: Aeropelican
Thanks, interesting stuff, and the pictures are amazing.
So, whats flying in a Twin Otter like?
RE: I’m Back!
It was brilliant, thanks. Much bigger airport than I expected, & nice and modern, plus its got a great viewing area, I saw that foregn 737 land and I thought it was going to overshoot!! It seemed to touch down about half way down the runway, but slowed down very quickly.
It’s a Dash 8 heaven with the BA & flybe. Dash 8s. I was amazed at the initial climb rate from the Q400 when I saw it take off, it was in new Flybe colours which I quite like.
We went in one of Flybe’s Dash 8-300s, G-JEDD, as I expected. It’s a VERY nice a/c, I was so suprised at how quiet it was. It was my fist turboprop flight and I thought it would be noisy. (although I did go in Shorts 360 to Jersey from Exeter when I was one year old, but I obviosly can’t remember that!)
It was a very smooth flight, we flew at 9,000 feet and were there in just 30 mins.
Cabin service began almost just as we left the ground, and I hope the brakes are good on those trollys, cos we were climbing quite alot while they began the service!
On the return flight, it was delayed a few hours cos there was fog in Guernsey where we had to stop.
We went on G-JEDD again. It was just a 20 minute stop over at Guernsey, We were not allowed to leave the a/c, but from my window I saw the Augriny trislander which had just taken off before us at Jersey.
Again we flew at 9,000 feet, and it was quite a smooth flight exept for some turbulnce on desent and approach.
Our Captain was appropratly named ‘Captain Bird’! and their were 2 Cabin Crew.
I hope to visit another channel Island or two again soon!

Luke

RE: Picture needed… please
Well, I think that there are still plans for the new termanal on the North Side of the airport, but I havn’t heard anything. Does anybody know what’s happening to the old one? Maybe the’ll keep the old one as a Flybe & Scilly Skybus terminal and the new one for international flights with larger aircraft.
They are also, currently building a new depature lounge, it sounds like its at the front of the main termanal, so how do passengers get to the aircraft? Maybe it’s just an extension???????
“WORK ON NEW DEPARTURE LOUNGE STARTS 28 August 2002
Skinner Construction has started work on the new Departure Lounge at Exeter International Airport. The building will eventually accommodate 400 departing passengers and will be completed in spring 2003 after final fitting out.
The first turf was cut by Geoff Myers, Exeter International Airport’s Managing Director, driving a digger. He later said, “With a third of a million passengers using the airport last year and a projected increase on those figures, we are in need of this new facility. It will allow our passengers to enjoy more space and a modern environment.”
The construction at the front of the main terminal building will consist of a concrete ring beam and slab with a steel frame and an insulated steel roof. The installation of enhanced shopping and catering facilities will follow this initial £800,000 stage which will be completed in January 2003.”

Work Experience
Yep, I’ve been to the Fleet Air Arm Mueseum, and I’m going to Yeovilton Air Day on 21 Sept.
I know Seaton Heights, and the I think the tram is quite funny!!!, I can hear them tooting their horns from my house!
That work ex. was brilliant, and when I went to Iscavia Light Aircraft Engineering (a company owned by flybe.), there was all these engineers shouting out “Don’t bleady bother being an engineer”.
Also, I got to watch the fire crew doing a practise, so they had the silver aircraft in flames, which I’m sure reassured any nervous flyers on board the Flybe Dash 8 which was going straigh past us during take-off! }>
I even got a 15 minute flight on Celtic Air Traning’s Cessna 150,
G-BOVS. It was a good flight down the River Exe and back.
Flybe were also going to let me jump seat the Dash 8-300 G-JEDD down to the channel Islands and back but the pilot said no, which I can understand.
It was a good 2 weeks.

Luke
RE: I’m Back!
Oh, and did you see that old Silver aircraft on the other side of the runway?, it’s used for fire practises and when I was on my Work Experience at EGTE, I used the monitor (that white thing on the top of the fire engine) to spray foam all over it! That was fun!:D
I also got a visit to the tower & approach while was there.

RE: More news… Condor begins to paint more a/c.
Hey, that’s not fair, I quite liked the Condor livery. :'(
I don’t think the TC livery is toooooo bad, though.

RE: Designing your own aircraft/airline.
I think that our designs should go in the Airliner World mag, or at least on thier website 🙂 🙂
Does anyone know what A330Crazy’s chopper is called? (make & model) -Great design btw.
we should copyright our liveries, so if a new airline wanted to copy them, they would have to pay us!, although, just seeing your own design on a real aircraft would be good enough for me!!! :+
