The examples in my (incomplete) collection tends to agree with you except Marks 22 & 24 which are AP 2816 B & C. The Seafire was AP 2280 A,B,C for the I,II,III. D&E for the XV & XVII, F&G for 45 & 46 and H for the 47.
I have been collecting Pilot’s Notes for nearly 60 years and I think I can say with confidence none were produced for the British services. (It is just possible Glosters may have produced their own for internal use). The information you require will be in the Volume One for the type.
Hmmm. What about the Camel, then……………….. I don’t suppose they were born domesticated so must originally have been wild.
The first time I heard of Fat Albert many years ago it was referring to the Grumman Albatross.
At the risk of stating the obvious to my kindred spirits on this forum, the Flight Manual for the Raider states the role for the A model was as an assault aircraft with a crew of 2 having the ability to land on unprepared airstrips, and the B was intended for Arctic rescue with a crew of 4. Both types were cleared for RATOG.
An ex-Fleet Air Arm pilot friend rather unkindly referred to Observers as ‘talking ballast’!
I have been, just the once unfortunately. I was not disappointed!
The quality of the artwork ranges all the way from pretty poor to top notch professional talent.
The only instrument missing on the port side is the radar altimeter. There is a hole mostly still visible for the hood jettison lever.
Pure nostalgia! My first ever flight was in Lancaster H.D at St Mawgan just before they were withdrawn. Mind you, I was deaf for nearly 3 days afterwards!
Neither of the above!
Undoubtedly a model in my opinion, for all the reasons given.
Thank you, Beermat. How things change! When I enquired some years ago to the Records Office, the RAF Museum and Westland I was informed that none of them had Pilot’s Notes for either mark of Welkin.
Brewster Buffalo?
I collected Pilot’s Notes for over half a century, eventually getting over 2,000 before disposing of them recently. The Welkin was one that I sought for many years without success. I can’t be certain but I feel that PNs were not produced for the type. I contacted Westland’s years ago only to be told they did not have any company type notes either.
