When I was serving at RAF Ballykelly there were a number of Corsair wrecks to be seen at low tides, so clearly dumped.
Lockheed did well with the P-38 series by improving it in incremental steps. The XP-49 was a disappointment but I see the XP-58 as a disaster! Look at the size of it, not only 37mm cannons forward but a 75mm too – along with a rear gunner with four .50 calibre machine guns. What were they (or whoever wrote the specification requirements) thinking?
I read the book first and much later saw the film and preferred the film!
Splendid photography, well done!
Is it just me or does the canopy seem to be very flimsy? I’m sure it must have been at least adequate for the task but it doesn’t look it. (I was trained on the Provost, so make allowances for old age!)
I can’t think of a remake that has been as good as the original. Memphis Belle is a case in point. The real thing or some overpaid, over-emoting thespians? No contest!
Not in the 2 volume ‘The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary’ either.
I hope so!
For Beermat:
The Fabian Society is a British socialist organization whose purpose is to advance the principles of socialism via gradualist and reformist effort, rather than by revolutionary overthrow but there seems to have been ‘mission creep’ over the years and a modified form of communism is now the aim. The spin used by the BBC has been commented on by many and there are a number of websites (such as Biased BBC) that list their more blatant efforts. Sorry to bring politics into the mix but I detest the dumbing down that occurs.
I expect errors from the dumbed down BBC. It is in my opinion the de facto headquarters of the Fabian Society.
Good news. I have the first 2 series and had just about given up on seeing series 3 becoming available. Love the hokey adverts too.
The Great Britain of my youth has gone mad. We must have the safest elfs imaginable!
Agree with charliehunt, so many videos are ruined because of unsuitable, inappropriate (and loud!) music.
Yup, low enough for anyone!
Four hundred and fifty quid? Blimey O’Reilly!
