CAVOK, no clouds, sunny and flyable. You can be forgiven for not knowing, it doesn’t happen very often.
He has got one with more seats…. I am calling him now to help him fix it 🙂
GASML you need to get an aircraft with more than one seat!
While we are on this subject, we are looking for ground crew next year, catch up with me at Duxford or Pm me if you would like to next year.
Well said.
It is nearly up now and there is nothing that can be changed, some will love it and some (like me) will hate it, but it is there now and I am sure it will do a great job of displaying the aircraft.
On a private note I no longer work at Duxford for any company anymore so at least I won’t have to look at it 🙂
Well you are entitled to your opinion. I have to disagree that building aternate cover is ‘out of the question’. I don’t think they are that short of money for display boards etc, I am sure that is budgeted for in other accounts. As for hanging the aircraft, well don’t get me started on that. So glad we spent all that time kitting out the inside for it to be hung up 🙁
It seems they are over budget anyway so it will be costing more.
I would be interested to hear how much Hendon paid to totally dismantle their hangar, move it and restore it! Anyone know?
Just went into edit and I hadn’t spelt it wrong, usually do 🙂
It may well pay for all of that but it is still an enomous amount of money for that. Lets not forget that the aircraft going in are being restored by staff that would be there anyway as well as volunteers, so that is not an extra outlay.
Exhibitions will be organized by current staff, so you are only looking at audio visual equipment and toilets which I class as the hangar, some of which were already there, so we are looking at 23 mil for the hangar.
Ok some exibits are to large for the existing structures, so build something more low key and further away from impacting on the historic airfield, as the Land Warfare Hall was. Wait until you see it for real, I thought the red and green thing was a blot, that was nothing on this new hangar.
I am sorry but I think a couple of Belfasts would more than ensure space for plenty of aircraft, why just build one, for 23 mil I am sure you could have a couple.
The Shak, well just because the outside looks bad, don’t be decieved, it has been worked on for a long time now. If you are up there on a Sunday you will see people on it, ask them to take a look inside, they have been working very very hard.
I just think that amount of money on a awful hangar is just as bad as the AAM, which I hate as well and think was money badly spent.
There are plenty of better ways of getting aircraft under cover for the same money or less, it is trying to keep up with the modern American museums, which is totally out of place at Duxford.
Snapper, I have the explosives when shall we do it?
23 Million!!!! And it is running over budget, did someone say?
23 Million for a reclad Superhanagar with a front extension.
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING, someone is laughing all the way to the bank!!
You are right someone has to be accountable.
If we could find one and pay him 10 years wages, it would still have been cheaper than that monstrosity.
Guess I asked for that 😀
Smithy commentating for the Utt Butts at Duxford a few years ago.. complete class.
Very nice, ask Damien, my phone is better than his camera 🙂
I am sorry but I think it looks bl**dy awful.
The plastic looked preformed and that quite alot of work had gone into it so I am guessing it is staying.
Whatever happened to keeping the airfield as an exibit in its own right.
Well We should of won that. Quite Simply though to any Tottenham fan, the scum always floats to the top 😀
Ah bitter words, need I say anything but 😀
:p :p :p :p
