The Su-35 is even able to withstand the world’s only fifth-generation fighter now in production, the F-22, though it is much cheaper than the American fighter – its cost is around $40 million dollars compared with $300 million for F-22.
*grabs riot shield*
Well so much for that aformented lightweight 5th-gen complement to the PAK FA from MiG…
Well, OAK would be it’s russian term. In English it would be UAC-2…

So whats gonna be the name of this new corporation? What will the aircraft be designated? Mikoyan Sukhoi? MiS-35?
*head implodes*
Oh this thread is gonna end well. Should I get my riot shield?
How viable would it be to, say, mass upgrade a good deal of the F-15C fleet up to a sort of Raptor-lite levels of capability, beyond the Golden Eagle upgrade? More optimized for air dominance than the current F-35s while being cheaper?
Hell, just make everyone learn and speak Latin. 😮
I think you nailed it with the term “Euro Wehrmacht”. 😀 (no offence intended).
While all this is an interesting exercise, it is just absolutely irrealistic, at least as long as Europe isn’t a reality. By that I mean, sure, there is an European government, but, Europe isn’t united through the people, the reason being that for example your regular Frenchman and your regular German will NOT be able to speak together… How do you expect to unite people who don’t even understand each other? Let alone have an european army where one bataillon and another wouldn’t comprehend each other? (Granted, the aviation part is easier, thanks to the universal use of English).
There’s a reason why this European Federation didn’t have a peaceful beginning. Why else would it be the “Empire”? :diablo::dev2:
I would agree this design looks more like half Eagle and half Flanker. While, most of the other drawing are more like half F-22 and half Flanker. Which, seem much more credible………….;)
Actually, it looks to me more like the old Mikoyan entry for the TPFI (which spawned the Su-27). Let me see if I can dig up a pic…
EDIT:
Hmm. Well…
I have question regarding the defensive system: is there any laser warning sytem on any Gripen version?
Whuh…?
.And finally the wing geometry and flying surfaces could be changed to resemble a F-35. All that would basically result in a twin-engine F-35 without internal weapons bays.
I’ve heard a few times an idea to keep the core airframe unchanged but to give it a completely new delta wing.
If Boeing wanted to compete with the F-35, couldn’t they just update and fix their X-32 design?
About the Gripen NG…
Is there any word about potential buyers for the “JAS-39E/G” variant as of right now? Is Sweden herself even interested?
Thanks for the effort and hope this thread will be “unpolluted”, as Gripen will be around for so many upcoming copetition.
Bah. The minute someone on this forum mentions the words “Tejas” or “J-10” this thread is going south. :p
Currently a Boeing sales pitch for extra sales: http://aviamagazine.xs4all.nl/news/readnews.aspx?id=265
Oh yeah, that. You know, I’d really like to see them say something other than “Its a Super Hornet but better!!!1” and “4.6523+ Generation” when asked about the Super Hornet. What kind of airframe reshaping? What changes in thrust and performance? How much reduced RCS, if at all? What new kind of avionics? Come on Boeing, try and sell me this product! And for the love of Christ, please define the term “4.75 Generation” instead of just throwing the word around as a sales pitch.
Typical Boeing.
By which time the SH will be at Block 3.
Is the “Block 3” Shornet clearly defined yet? What is it to entail?
Well there goes THIS thread. It was fun and informative while it lasted, at least…
