Saabs offer to South Korea!, a stealth supercruiser with canards!

I’ve seen that design before. Does that design have a name yet, if at all?

Comparing the XASM-3 concept drawing and the photos, if that’s a cockpit, then it seems big enough to fit in a hamster, or maybe a pigeon.

    Hey, whatever works. 😮

    you mean this one?

Erm, I think under no certain terms that the picture you have there was proven to be a photoshop at some point. I think…?

    XASM-3 new air-to-ship guided munition.
    IMO, awesome winglets.

Is that a cockpit? They’ve apparently gone back to the tried-and-true method of Kamikaze piloting for their weaponry. http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/c028.gif

    Interesting post, MadRat.

I always wondered how effective it would be to design a “modular” aircraft that can swap out components on the fly, depending on what the customer wants and/or what the mission dictates.

Upgrading would be a snap; just pull out the radar and fit the newer one that you bought last week. Or add an extra engine to optimize it’s air superiority performance. Or replace the single-seat cockpit and put in a twin-seater cockpit module designed for EW work.

It’s the ones that are fueled by nationalism that really crack me up. When some people refuse to accept the fact that their chosen country’s hardware just might not be the best in the world in the given field. They’re just glorified dick-size contests.

    Hmm, that could be fun:

Adrian_44, my nation’s dick is bigger than yours!:mad:;):diablo:

I have a rule when reading on this forum. With the exception of News threads, I stop reading any thread that makes it after page five. By then the topic has degenerated to the point where it’s not even worth reading.

I have yet to see otherwise.

It’s viable if you want to lose a lot of aircraft in the process, unless the Kirov is out of commission from some other attack and can’t respond.

So harpoons or some other AShM would be the best weapon to be used by aircraft in this scenario?

Right now, I’m wet dreaming of an uber F-15J with thrust vectoring, AESA, HMS, Reduced RCS, Canards, and laser/photon weaponry. All piloted by young hot female anime characters with spiky blue hair with form-fitting flight suits. And all tied in with fanservice, explosions, an evil communist plot to take over the world, and the eventual alien threat at the end, where only a crack team of these hot Japanese fighter pilots onboard the super space-capable F-15s can stop.

Oh, and it can transform into a robot. 😮

    …what?

In all seriousness though, I agree with Sferrin. I would guess that it would probably be cheaper to just upgrade the F-15Js that are already in service. And regarding it’s lack of LO… I wonder if it would be possible to put some of those features on the F-15 as well?

USA – North Texas vs South Texas

Makes sense. After all, the “State of Texas” is only a theory, not a fact. 😮

    Regarding The US vs PRC…

China is no longer a broken country with an ancient military that the USAF could just swat away. China is rapidly heading towards a modern fighting force, and with that massive Chinese military, the PRC is one of the few countries who can seriously f–k Uncle Sam’s s–t up.

And so, if China DOES invade Taiwan, I don’t think the US would intervene at this point. Not only that, but right now the US is busy fighting the war on terror in the Middle East right now. Don’t know if the US would be willing to get involved in another war. The US populace, I’m sure, would not approve, especially for a place which is far, far away in their minds.

If the US DOES intervene, then it finds itself in a extremely bad war. If it doesn’t, then it turns it’s back on Taiwan despite the agreement and I don’t want to think of the geopolitical ramifications of that. This US-Taiwan alliance has left it in a bad fix…
