Well they, ah, kinda ARE… Besides, this topic is about the air combat performance of the two jets in question, of which the Typhoon is pretty much considered to be the best of the three in that regard…

An equivalent discussion about the Su-34 or the Su-35BM’s ground attack performance and the Rafale would be appropriate.

Haha, you should get a hobby mate. Like knitting, or bull running. 😀 Great work BTW. It would be a good idea to add in the Su-27SM in there too; with that it’d be easy to get a good picture on how the J-11B compares on the scale.

The IAF is an interesting case in point in that it will receive/has received the Eurofighter trench3 tender proposals, which will be trickling into service (if it wins) when the Su-30MKI will be entering it’s MLU.

A little off topic, but what exactly will the Tranche 3 upgrade improve upon?

I’m for certain that once the Chinese fifth gen aircraft is revealed, there will be an army of keyboard warriors armed and ready to go into twenty-page long forum s**tstorms about how the Chinese ripped off the Mig-1.44/F-22/Typhoon/Tie-Fighter and how the Chinese aerospace industry suxxorz compared to the European/Russian/American industry.

I’d bet my underpants on it.

I think it would be better to look long term. Right now, the J-11B probably less capable than the Su-35BM going solely on the fact that the Chinese Aerospace industry is still a ways to catch up with the Russian Aerospace industry, but the gap is closing. In thirty years I’m sure the Chinese could develop a flanker in the same lines as the BM.

That’s good; we could see a realistic comparison between the 5th gen F-35 and the latest Eagles in terms of performance and whatnot then.

The Su-34 has older AL-31 like the Su-30MKI so still they need canards

So if RuAF pilots meet a Eurofighter (hypothetical scenario) in air combat they will refuse to fight it on the grounds that they dont consider it as a competitor??

Hey, you know how politics can really screw around with the rules of engagement. Kinda like with Vietnam, right? :diablo:

It would kill me to see the F-15 die like that.

There are some F-15s in foreign use, like Japan and Israel. And Japan is currently upgrading theirs If I recall. Perhaps the Japanese will pimp their F-15s to uber levels out since they can’t get the Raptor? Ima crossin’ my fingers!
