    This is true because of how USAF set up the systems (radar, Fire control, etc.). The new F-15Ks and SGs reportedly will have the full F-15 fighter capability restored. In fact, because of shortages in the number of F-15s available in the future, there are plans in USAF to make the necessary software and computing changes to its F-15Es to put all the fighter capability back. And if the proposed new F-15E order materializes, they will have full fighter capability from the start.

    Off topic here, but thats a new one on me. I was always under the impression that the F-15E had all the A2A capability of the F-15C all along. Do you have more info about that?

    It kinda looks like a Raptor with a heaping dose of Russian Bodybuilding and vitamins. When they roll out the prototype, it wouldn’t surprise me if the jet itself somehow speaks “I must break you.”

    Interesting arrangement. If that turns out to be true, then it could be problematic with the armament slung vertically like that. Should any missile below the upper row get stuck in the bay for whatever reason, it could prevent the launch of the others above.

    but I guess the air force has almost totally dropped the desire for 150 MiG-29SMTs?

    From what I’ve heard, the RuAF plans to get rid of the ’29 altogether. I dont have a source, but thats the rumor…

    Very interesting, at least in terms of combat aircraft I see few other alternatives than the Su-35, I wonder if the figure includes transport, support and other aircraft though?:confused:

    Cant forget their PAK FA project. If I’m not mistaken the Su-35 is supposed to be a sort of stop-gap before the PAK FA enters service.

    Correct me if I’m wrong.

    Is the Su-33 ever going to get a upgrade? Maybe with some of the features of the Su-35?

    I think they were going to a while back? :confused: Think it was more in league with the old Su-35. Now it seems like Russia has pretty much given up on the Su-33, though.

    A navalized Su-35 would be nice too.

    BTW, a little off topic but do Su-33’s have AA-12/R-77 capability?

    …anyway, from what I understand, they plan to retire the ’29 outright once the PAK FA goes into service. Wonder if they can actually afford to pull that off.
