Flateric’s pics does reinforce the view. I like that.
And yes, the PAK FA is being featured in Ace Combat Assault Horizon. I am happy about that. But I cringed when I saw R-60s under its wings.
EDIT: but patent drawings would be fantastic. I’ve seen the Paralay drawings, but are they patent? I thought those were ‘fan’ made.
Pardon me for being a skeptic, but is there even any proof that it IS a weapons bay?
No, those pics can’t be to scale. The engine spacing of the PAK FA has to be larger than the Su-27. At least my an extra foot.
“Magnum” is used for anti-radiation missiles.
But yes, I would love to hear what Russian pilots say (if anything) when launching. I know their ripple-fire techniques for AAMs would be interesting to call out.
How’s about the largely overlooked Su-35BM display?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRV-c4s5vMo&feature=player_embedded
:eek::eek:
That is the most impressive Su-ANYTHING display I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if it just looked that way because the camera didn’t give us any point of reference for the Su-35’s movement or if the Su-35 was actually doing all of that.
That was unreal. Fantastic video!
I’m with you. 4 medium range missiles is utterly pathetic. I had a bad feeling about this when we saw the Su-47 bay tests. I mean, if they want to tout this as an alternative to the F-22, then it’s going to have to match it in weapons carrying capability at the very least.
There’s enough room to move the hardpoints toward the engines and place another in the middle where the door seam is.
I debated coloring this up as a ‘news’ item, but I figured that would be frowned upon.
The PAK FA is being featured as the bad guy’s uber-plane in a new flight game, Ace Combat Assault Horizon.
They got the paint scheme right and I would petition Sukhoi to add a similar shark mouth to the second prototype. The cruise missile under the left wing is a thermobaric type. So, that’s a little bit of an exaggeration 😛

Nah, it makes its stinger look like it’s got an actual stinger! 😛
Is that an installation purely for the displays?
This looks pretty awesome. I wish it had English subtitles.
And the bombers are actually Tu-16s, from what I saw, not M-4s.
Oddly enough, putting the coordinates into Google’s browser doesn’t work. You have to put it into Google Earth.
But yeah, Ken’s picture there shows it.
Pardon me using the format I’ve been using my whole life AND the format presented on Google Earth.
So, I don’t know where this needs to go, but I figured this would be the best place.
On Google satellite pictures of Zhukovski airbase, the photos had been updated a while back. Visible was the MiG 1.44 (which was also seen in some pictures from MAKS 09 when some folks on tour busses got a glimpse of it during a ride around the base).
Well, I was looking around the same area today and behind the Sukhoi ramp (to the south of the MiG 1.44 location) you can see the Su-47! :O
It has been hiding in the shadows of some hangars all this time and I’m not sure if anyone has seen it. But I found it and thought I’d post the coordinates for anyone that wants to see it:
55.570833N, 38.146389E
Some notes:
The MiG 1.44 first showed up in 4/13/09 and literally hasn’t moved since. Doesn’t look like they’re doing anything with it.
The Su-47 is now seen in the latest imagery, dated 9/24/10.
MiG 1.44 is at 55.574306N, 38.142222E
Just thought I’d share.
Certainly not a Su-35, SM3 is for the most part an SM barring some small changes. They are of course new build, apparently there is some idea of putting modern radar sets on them in the future.
That was one of my biggest questions–if they were new builds or not.
Yes, I believe that those are the first serial production Su-35s.
Nice to see an actual guided air to ground missile hanging under a Flanker for once. Can’t say the same thing for those rocket pods…
——————
EDIT: No, I take that back. Those aren’t the Su-35s.
The Su-35 serial is numbered “Black 01”
Which, now I’m hungry for an answer. Is Su-27SM3 the same thing as the Su-35? Or is it just another step farther from SM2 development?
That is brilliant.
Do we have any information on these Satellite pods as to their effectiveness?
EDIT:
Nevermind. It looks like Satellite-M is a part of the aforementioned Su-27UBM2 upgrade package from Belarus. And the Satellite-M pod is a development of the Russian MSP-418K.
Which is shown in this promo video:
