You know, judging by the interior of those weapon bays it looks like it’s only two missiles wide–judging by the pylons. Which would bring PAK FA carriage to 4…
Unless I just don’t have a good perspective.
Putin was the one that threw 2013 out there. That may be a directive, but it isn’t the gospel truth.
This isn’t a delay in any sense.
That second picture shows a GREAT view of the weapons bays.
Looks like there’s a wide one in the midsection and another at the rear!
EDIT: Speaking of Ace Combat, this better make it into the planes list now that we know what it looks like.
So… Think it will be a static display at MAKS 2011? 😀
No it’s not a delta. Watch the video where it is taxiing directly in front of the camera and you can see its elevators.
What we need is a top view to get a real good idea of the shape.
That’s probably why there wasn’t footage of it flying. They wanted to preserve the shape from the public eye for some reason. And catching it flying and banking would give away some of its flight characteristics as well as shape.
EDIT: Seeing the rear shot does make it seem like it has better visibility. I suppose I’m comparing it to the F-16 canopy.
One thing it looks like is that the pilot doesn’t have very superb rearward visibility.
Oh my *******.
It’s beautiful! 😀
It depends on who is doing the voting.
For the US obviously, it will be Enduring Freedom and the air power (drones) in the War on Terror.
For some parts of Europe and all of Russia, the Georgian War will be the most poignant moment in 2000s air power. This war actually saw air to air combat. Granted, a MiG-29 vs. a Georgian UAV was less than spectacular (the video made up for that!) but it did feature and air to air portion.
Gripen all the way. Especially the NG. I love it.
So, question… do we have an idea as to how many PAK FA examples there are? My friend says there are three and I would like to know if he’s talking out of his ass or not.
More info from that Su-27 crash a few days ago…
Article for reference:

Now, you can take this with a grain of salt. I know I have… but I have a friend in Russia that supposedly has a friend at KnAAPO. He said that the Su-27 that was lost was a Su-27SM, which fits with those stationed at KnAAPO’s airfield.
So T-10M-10 is an ex-Su-27M? It has canards it seems.
Does anyone know the story with this fighter? Is it one of the 11 Su-35s that the RuAF accepted but never put into service?
EDIT: I just realized the bort number is 710. That’s one before the 711 that used to be the Su-37 until it crashed. So this is the ex-Su-35 then ex-Su-37 then ex-Su-35 again and now T-10M-10 engine testbed. Is that correct?
I think they still have room for some bombs on the underside…
HAHAHA! Yes, Google Earth is a CIA program. Never mind open source imagery! That made my day.
