It’s been around…
It has appeared in the IAC’s magazine about a year ago, and was written I believe by Australian Auster owner and pilot John Cooper.
De Havilland Dove nose, cockpit and fuselage section as a road vehicle in the magnificent ‘Bladerunner’, and which has turned up subsequently in a few other films and TV programs I seem to recall.
A lot of local (Australian money) was raised to send NX611 on to the UK.
Just arrived in Oz, Gemini, former SE-BMG / G-AISD, soon to be VH-BMN
As with all things Aussie, I’ll believe it when I see the photos. It’s like they invented conspiracy theories as a national sport.
Hmmmm, an odd thing to say, and while I sincerely doubt that these aircraft will eventuate, seems to me it’s a more modest fantasy than 60 Spitfires that have driven this forum and most of the British media – and your PM – into a lather.
Gloster Gladiator?
Mayday Mayday
I agree with both points you make Keith, but the question remains, why a G instead of a C? The G was a fleet ‘top up’, while the C model was unique to the RAAF. I think that given the significance of the F-111 order in Australian politics, I can’t help feeling that this is second best option. Any reason why the museum was not offered or did not request a C model?
F-111C?
Is the Museum likely to receive a c model- surely more significant to RAAF history than the later G model?
I like a long weekend…
Any weekend that begins a day early, that gets you out of the office and catching up with your pals (followed by a round or two of refreshments) and viewing some aeroplanes has got to be a good thing, good weather or not!
Interested in hitching a ride with us JDK to Broken Hill for the next one- (hopefully via Beechcraft Baron)?
Airtourer display
Friday afternoon, 24th April 2009.
Still going strong
This beautifully restored Airtourer put on a spirited display in awful conditions at the AAAA Echuca fly-in over the weekend. Hope we see more of them returned to their former glory.
A couple more…
Pics really don’t do it justice…
I had the pleasure of attending the first and second flights yesterday (beats being at work)- apparently both were flawless. Thanks to the folks at The Old Aeroplane Company for making all us interlopers welcome.
The attention to detail on this aeroplane is quite stunning. Word is it will be attending the AAAA fly-in at Echuca this weekend.
Check this out
Hi Laurence,
suggest you check the AHSA website for a new, epic book by Keith Meggs about the Codock and many others: http://www.ahsa.org.au/ and click on the link in the top right corner. Should be a great read and promises to be the (first) and last word on the subject.
The view from First Class…
As flown just a few weeks back on 22 February at the HARS base in Wollongong. A great flight!
