More piccies for you.
Hi Tom,
I dont think there is a “True” scale for these aircraft but I recon somewhere around 1:48th would be fairly accurate.
They were made for me by an old chap living in Fife (Scotland).
I will send you a name and address privately and let you get in touch with him yourself as I dont know wether he still makes them or not.
Will put some more pics on here soon.
Wooden Wonders
Hi Roger,
The Manchester was built specialy for me about 3 years ago and it got to the stage where I would request a subject and lo and behold it would arrive through the post about a month later.
All of them are hand carved which must make them fairly unique.
Some more pictures to follow.
The most obvious one to date is where the Fire Tenders were kept, the Bellmans are still there but one has been “extended” in length.
Biggest loss to date was the Ops Board (which was painted onto a wall and still held chalk written info on it), well, its still there but it has been painted over.
Best kept secret at Drem is the wonderful old mural dating from WW1 which the present owners of the building (used for making Jams etc), painted round.
Suggest you type in “RAF Drem” where there is a web site and it has present day pictures of what is still there.
The 2 BOB kits really take me back, can you confirm if there was also a Spit, JU88 set as well??????????.
If I were to do my bit, it would be (here anyway), Drem (where a few buildings have went “missing” of late), Macmerry and what little is left of Darlingfield.
Please forgive the spelling, I am slightly dyslexic…………
Revell JU88A-4 but changed to a MKA-14.
Have everything ready to start building but……………………………………dont you find you have loads of time , but no time?.
Oh, followed by Classic Airframes Vampire 5.
Ma wee Pigeon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geek time,
Buchons were known to have been painted in 3 different schemes (cant ellaborate), but-
1-Overall Dark Blue.
2-Aluminium on top with Blue under-surfaces.
3-Camouflage on top in 2 diff Greens and Blue (RLM 65 below).
Doubt it, they would probably find it to boring !!!!!!!!!
Definately modern, give me a couple of days please and I will scan you what I have.
Book seems to say that cockpit lay out was very similar to ME-109 G6.
Can anybody confirm?.
Have a book here by “Monografico Aereo” about the Buchon with really good pictures of the cockpit interior of Buchon 471-23 held in a Museum in Spain, if you want I could try to scan some pics on to you, thats if that sort of thing is allowed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Seem to remember having to crawl and fight my way over “Hundreds” of kids who thought it was a Spit they were getting to sit in ???????????????????????.
Thanks for the info Pete.
Its been a few years since I was there and even then parts were beginning to get “flakey”.
They also used to have the cockpit section of a Shackleton, is that still there?.
