Now that is beautiful !!!
Stunning the Blenheim with the Spitfire 1’s. Is there a biplane as beautiful as that Hawker Fury ? She is a real treasure.
This is a great thread, your dedication to the beautiful old Beau is fantastic, I do hope all your ambitions for her come good, it would be a spectacular and worthwhile achievement. I wish we could overcome the problems we are up against getting our Beau airworthy in the UK, it’s such an important type that needs to be put back in the spotlight.
That last photo brings back memories of AEF Chippies at RAF Shawbury (8AEF)
Looks like a bird strike victim !!
Please oh please paint G-AIDN yellow again, such a stunning scheme
Yes it is, shot down 25th October near Capel in Kent.
By the end of 1940 Bobby was credited with 8 confirmed and 1 probable kills, what date are we looking at for the model? Also is that the Spit he got shot down in ?
Great camo scheme.
Well that’s totally new to me !!!
This 109 has got that Hans Marseille connection to, what airworthy warbirds today have ‘ace’ connections? Can think of BBMF Spit IIa P7350 and Ludwig Martel, TFC’s Hellcat and Alex Vraciu.
Old spitty is that the tailplane spar ?
Yes Trev it has been discussed before but there is no problem with keeping the topic alive is there? The news on the Hercules engine is encouraging, I wonder if TFC have investigated this. You would think the Beau airframe could be adapted to accept the late series Hercules wouldn’t you ??. What are the massive differences ?. Any news on that Spit 22 ?
Fantastic to see this beautiful fighter back where she belongs.
The traffic was indeed horrendous much worse than the 50th anniversary flypasts last year. A fantastic sight though, we are so lucky in this country to have such a rich aviation history, I hope the wave of interest shown during the Mynarski Lancaster’s visit ( I refuse to call her ‘Vera’) will be carried forward by the public to the wider historic aviation scene.
