Burger, you’re always good for a laugh!
But sadly not much good for anything else. :diablo:

Sorry burger boy, I couldn’t resist, SOC made it way too easy.
Of course its a copy. The point I think Ken is trying to make is that copying the B-29 (the height of current technology) by a ‘backward’ communist country half of whose industry had been destroyed by massive conflict is an amazing feat. I think it is too. It would be like the North Koreans copying an F-35 or something. I’d be impressed – wouldn’t you?
One advantage the Russians have is that everything is cheaper in Russia – including the design and construction of a 5th gen combat jet. Western companies have known for ages that no matter where you are in the world low-wage workers = low cost products.
but they are usually manned by pretty girls, so pumping them for info is a bit of a non-starter.
😀
Ken,
I hope you’re taking at least one camera (of course you are!) – can’t wait to see the results. Keep us posted!
The Soviets made a series of straight-through tube fighters which all look a lot like some wings and a cockpit strapped onto an engine and the Chinese copied some of them – they’re all pretty generic in my opinion (and yet they manage somehow to remain pretty interesting).
Miroslave,
Kapedani,
Nobody is expecting you to be objective, however, slightly more rational responses and more reliable figures might actually help some of your arguments get through.
This is a most rediculous thread. It is threads such as this that drag this forum down.
On both sides of the discussion there is a great amount of distortion and mis-interpretation of the facts on everything from historical figures to current military data. To me this is a perversion of the very point of a forum – here nobody is exchanging information or ideas and nobody on the side-lines is able to learn anything (in as much as anything they do learn will most likely be false or distorted).
This is a topic which greatly interests me and about which I know a fair amount and yet I am too revolted by the childish bickering on both sides to try to contribute.
I just wish that people could maintain a some order and try to discuss things rationally.
Ja,
The J-22 isn’t a trainer of any kind and was never (to the best of my knowledge) used in combat in Serbia – rather it operated in Croatia and Bosnia at a time when both were already internationally recognised as seperate/independent entities.
As for the G-4(M) – it’s only real advantage over other designs might be cost as it is actually pretty poory equiped for combat and no dedicated light-attack varriant was ever produced.
Looks a bit like a love child of a Eurofighter and a Flogger – on steroids.
Well technically Nigeria is pretty well off – its just that the economy is set up so that well off people are very few in number. Still, they should be doing okay considerring the price of a barrel of oil these days – maybe they’re just itching to spend some of the extra revenue on something shiny that flies fast. Can’t say I blame them (I’d be tempted too :diablo: ).
Thank you for that Stewart but I’ll stick with my original aircraft i.d. this time.
Some (poor) Galeb photos taken all of about ten minutes ago. Sorry about the quality but what can I do when I haven’t got a lens long enough and they didn’t (on this occasion) come close enough for a better shot.
More G-2s again today – woke me up the loud b@st@rds. This time they did some extremely close formation flying – looked damn dangerous from where I was standing. Also, there’s a couple of Ministry of Internal Affairs Hueys doing some flying around at the moment, mostly in circles but still. Earlier they dropped some members of the 63rd Parachute Regiment on ‘Ada’ (the aforementioned beach). Fun stuff to watch from one’s balcony. Its all in aid of Belgrade’s first Sports Festival (taking place on Ada) which I might visit tomorrow as there’ll be a martial arts competition between members of the Special Police and Army SF which could be fun to watch. I’d also heard that the army had put in a team for the paintball competition against amateurs, but I don’t know if thats true or not.
PilotTHX,
First of all you should note that I am not English so I don’t give a damn about your inferiority complex or about your ‘our airshow is bigger’ cr@p. All I know is that I was at Le Bourget a couple of years ago and left with the impression that it could have been better organised. I don’t particularly care if you take that as some sort of insult to your nation because it isn’t meant as such – its just a statement of fact, plain and simple.
