Actually all the KGB isn’t being re-formed in full. The foreign branch is will remain seperate from the new, larger FSB.
PhantomII,
You know, if I was invading a country illegally, killing its civillians everyday, destroying varrious bits of it et cetera, I would want to justify my actions too. During this conflict the Pentagon has already been shown to have made things up without basing them on facts, I wouldn’t be too surprised if they had just found an aspirin factory…

Snapper,
We were actually quite lucky; one of the comentators had them down as weapons of mass destruction – fortunately she was corrected by her colleague who said that they were a significant threat to allied vehicles as they crossed into Iraq.

TTP,
“just remember when the chips are down you won’t find a better ally than the US”
Yea, tell that to the Kurds and Marsh Arabs. The Kurds in particular were treated badly when the US allowed Saddam to slaughter them and then allowed its NATO ally (Turkey) to enter northern Iraq to slaughter them too.
Jonsey,
I appreciate your point that most chaps in the services are normal blokes who have families, morals, etc but in my experience there are also some “slaughter merchants” who’re just violent thugs who have no qualms with public displays of racism and worse. mostly in the parachute regiment as far as I can tell.

Thank you
“Wolfph Blitzen has a digital picture of a low flying CAF attack bomber, approaching one of Sadam’s palaces! Sent via satellite over to the network….”
What a wonderfully adult and mature contribution at a time like this.

From here on; BELEIVE NOTHING!
Hw many SCUDS did patriots “kill” last time round? How many were we told they killed? Ok, I accept that SCUD technology hasn’t changed (neither has FROG technology etc) and that Patriot technology has sharply improved. That, however, doesn’t mean that if a couple of missiles land in the desert miles from anyone who can verify what happened to them the Americans won’t claim to have killed them for the extra publicity.

Jonesy,
I’m with you on this one. I remember tearing my hair out practically every day during the ’99 conflict as journalists got fact after fact wrong.
My favourite was a Times report which had the MiG-29 pegged as the fastest combat aircraft produced in the Soviet Union, which is why it is such a threat to allied pilots. Although, it was also interesting to her that the USN launched several high-tech F-19 fighters in order to attack their targets in Nis, the largest town in norther Kosovo.

Anyone know if they’re planning to back this professional force up with any kind of national reserve force like the British TA? If so, how would this work?
