If we aen going to get petty, why not charge the Afghan government for all the weapons supplied to the Mujahadin during the war against the soviets?
I cant believe we are even having this debate!

The Indian Scorpene deal has been in the press for agesa and has still not been approved by the Indian government, so lets not pretend its a done deal by any chance, right now Indias youngest subs are about 12 years old….

With the ability to produce 3 Agosta 90bs it will not be a big jump for Pakistani production to switch to the Scorpene

As for the Europeans not selling to Pakistan because of India, well

    T-80US
    Mirage upgrades
    Mistral missiles
    Lynx choppers
    Banshee drones
    Exocet missiles

are just some euro weapons , the number of European exhibitors at Ideas 2004 also gives one an idea that the Europeans will sell to people with cash, that has been the way it has always been and probably always will be!

I wonder who is making these analyses?

The military themselves, like militarys all over the world, its in there interests to play up any threat to secure an increase in budgets….

Mind you, in some areas though the “edge” India has is being eroded thanks to US supplied equipment….

well, it looks like a new PAF is slowly beggining to take shape based around
FC-1s and F-16A/Bs as the mainstay and F-16C/Ds as the high end…..

34 more C/Ds for the PAF (according to Flight) may be just what the boys at Fort Worth need right now….

Thursday, January 20, 2005 – About 220 workers on the F-16 production line were handed layoff notices Wednesday by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. in Fort Worth as the defense contractor begins cuts in its F-16 Fighting Falcon program.

The layoffs, the first round of many, follow three years of job growth in the F-16 program. The company has about 15,500 employees – about 6,000 of which were working on the F-16s last year.

It is the first wave of 800 to 1,000 layoffs of F-16 workers planned this year.

All of the employees affected are aircraft assemblers, mechanics, painters and other production workers. Some may still be reassigned to other duties and all others will get outplacement services.

Lockheed gave out 60-day warning notices to the assembly line workers, who will leave the company in March.

The Fort Worth-based company is moving out of the F-16 fighter jet’s development and initial production phases and not as many workers are needed.

Lockheed Martin has a backlog of about 200 planes but they did not book any new orders for F-16 fighter jets in 2004.

Without new orders, production of the F-16 would end in late 2008.
