    Absolutely brilliant.

My Dad always said he had an Indian with wind up gears. I have yet to prove or disprove.

Unfortunately he passed away filling his baccy pouch and apparently fell amongst the EMPTY home made wine bottles some 25 years ago.
Still brings a smile to my face.

    RIP Dad

Good to hear Linc, glad all is running better.

Yes I believe you are right about John Surtees.

I was trying to emulate the late great Fritz Sheideger (wrong spelling I’m sure) on racing chairs. My passenger never forgave me for blowing it at ‘South BanK’ and this was my third and final race. Hey ho!

I still hurt when its the cold and have been told it will only get worse. The foolishness of teenage years. But enjoyed every minute till I hit the ground at about 110 mph. Stupid boy.

    Keep smiling

Linc, hope all worked as well as possible for you yesterday.

Mike Hailwood 1966, Isle of Man, John Surtees – Brands Hatch. If only I could aspire to a quarter of their talent! Rolled an outfit at Brands that made headlines in Motorcycle News, my claim to fame!

For me today, our 89 yr old neighbour who had a massive stroke last week, recognised me, said my name as clear as day and gurgled with laughter. Life can’t get much better than that.

My glass is more than half full.

You have always been the voice of wisdom and the stabilizing influence on this forum. Like many on this forum I have shunned Facebook, Twitter and the like; so until your last post did not have a feel of the depth of your problem. Recent laws on tenancy have once again been popularist and ill thought out. No I am not a lawyer, but this smacks of a test case. Until dementia is rightly categorised as an illness I know that many people will go through what you are at present. Take heed and strength from this forum; take back what you have already given in bus loads. If nothing else we are a sympathetic ear.

    Good luck and keep posting.

Darn sarf, like Westwood Ho, North Devon. All may not be what it appears. From a well informed source!! and who am I to doubt? this nugget is most probably 18 carat, so not natural gold but more likely smelted jewellery. Could well have fallen from the pocket of a publicity seeker. Then again it could be Burma. Oh no that’s a different thread. Local press has gone very quiet!

IIRC there were breakwaters some 50+ years ago. My Dad was born in Southease (a village just up river (the real River Ouse) from Newhaven). We visited occasionally in the mid 60’s when Dad got his first car. Shear luxury! The beach used to show up many WWII aircraft bits, spark plugs, cylinder heads etc. Of course we never took anything home with us! :dev2:

The 7 sisters are absolutely amazing and having seen them from close quarters over the years (Chipmunk, Hercules and Chinook). The Humber Spit was always a navigation point on returning to Leconfield after a joy ride in a Lightning T Bird.

The pictures of change bring home the power of the seas. I personally am sad to see such change but perhaps (unless someone else can tell us different) we should just let nature balance the books and do her own thing.

Having watched my Mother die in dignity (23yrs ago) from cancer in a hospice, Dad had a massive and fatal heart attack 18 months earlier. I cannot fault the treatment handed out. BUT!

I have had rescue cats for most of my life 3 score +, and as a family we have decided when that animal has passed the point of quality of life. Hard as it is we ensured they did not suffer.

How you bring that into law I cannot easily conceive without someone abusing it. We need a massive change in culture to allow what is now legal for vets!

Back to Jim’s original point, if it’s legal; we may not agree with it but this is our current care in the community. Hospitals are now run as a business and the dreaded term ‘blocked bed’ becomes subject of the accountants bottom line as well as a possible relief line for A&E.

Is it morally right to allow a failing patient to die in their own time whilst stopping someone who has a chance of recovery in A&E who needs that bed! That is a choice not many people would be willing to make.

Unfortunately, it is those that they take with them when they crash that is our concern.

As they don’t usually have any insurance, tis us law abiding folk who end up with inflated premiums.

We are all with you Jim, no matter the circumstances. Remember that Solicitors and Lawyers are only in it to drain your cash.

My youngest son has spent years trying to be reasonable, but the lawyers, like parasites, keep wanting more. Is there an easy answer, unfortunately I don’t think so.

Though all that you have been through remember the good times and keep a level head. As someone somewhere once said; “revenge is a dish best served up cold”. Good luck and stay calm.

Igor Sikorsky was one (if not the) most important helicopter inventors. His name liveth for ever more. The S92 being the latest creation from the factory that bears his name in the grand old US of A.

Many years ago, whilst I sat in a presentation by a very upbeat and informative Sikorsky representative to the UK Search and Rescue forum I could not but feel that the wish was that this was to be our future Sea King replacement (not Merlin!). Some of this wish now appears to be true!

“Only those Voyagers fitted with military Defensive Aid Suites or air-to-air refuelling have been affected.
So far the MoD has not given a figure of the number of planes affected, but A330s without the military fit are still being used.”

Mike Beachy Head has put his body where his confidence is. Flown this iconic beast and returned it safely to its lair. Lets hope that all safety systems are now in place and working at 100%. This beast will bite even if looked after properly, as we have seen many times in the past. I find it hard to believe that S.A. authorities would have allowed this flight without a massive oversight.

RH seat @ Thunder City was reserved for my retirement as was a trip in Concorde. Unfortunately sad events overtook all of that. BUT! I can still remember the joy of a ride as a mere Junior Tech in the RH seat of T4 XM970 from 60 MU Leconfield after Major Servicing which will live with me for ever.

Good luck and Godspeed Thunder City.
