Tony T,
A lot of your and my friends went for a swim from conveyer only to survive in San Carlos and Kelly’s Garden for the rest of the war. Unfortunately we lost a few after the war and attended their laying to rest.
Having said that, a couple who survived were still at odious often came to annoy me in my office for coffees in 2000. :D:D:D:D
I was deployed on fat alberts during the conflict and remained with them until 86 when I joined the wokka force until 2001.
Have spent a total of over 2 years on the islands from 82 – 01 as part of my career of C130/CH47+ and have thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality as well as many hours of boredom. BUT! I will always support their consolidated wish to remain British.:)
People will have to understand that what happened in 1982 and can be explained, has been! Those items that are covered by the Official Secrets Act will remain dormant until the Government of the Day says different. Speculation is very unhelpful. (Other threads on this site!!!)

Serious Question? What part of the Typhoon isn’t ‘Modern Military Aircraft’? Some posters need to get a life.!:dev2:
Good Post, reminds me of one of a pair of Binbrook Lightnings that creased the wing of a General Aviation Aircraft that had to land at Humberside airport after intercept.
QRA again, oh great it’s the NAAFI dance tonight.:D:D:D:D
Think you will find they are the Mk32B-902E pods usually utilized with Osprey ops.

Lets all hope the damage is superficial.
Unfortunately, its the damage you cannot see thats the worry!
Yes I know, ever the pessimist.
The Provost T1 that I helped to rebuild in 1979 had altimeters 6A 3380 (new ref – 4333298).
Using your logic, I suppose 50k rules out the Trident as well?:D:D
Now thats an offer I can’t refuse. But as you say not on the day of the black nectar.:D:D

Unfortunately those that have not been in contact with the services cannot come close to understanding the close bond that ensures service personnel and their families work in harmony with each other. It is in the minority that we have politicians who have previously served and still gain our respect. IDS I take my hat off to you for trying. Only the so called “Right to Work” campaign could stop young people from gaining that important experience and still be paid benefits whilst saying its unpaid labour. Thank you BBC just remember, it is the public that pays your wages.
Back on thread, Military Covenant is meaningless. I grew up trusting our ex-servicemen in parliament to honour the unwritten code. Fat lot of good that has done. The current and previous governments do not understand that a Service Personnel serve Queen & country, not the faceless 4 year wonders that get a gold plated pension and vote in their own pay rises.
In total agreement with what has been stated previously, I can personally vouch that for 20 years in married quarters, my family was blessed with everything the service community could throw at them. A secure and reasonably maintained roof over their head. Whether I was on detachment, exercise, operations or just gallivanting round the world, there was always someone for my good lady and kids to call on in times of emergency which luckily were very few. I could also to focus on the task ahead without having to worry too much about the family. This was by no means dismissing my responsibilities; just a comfort zone in what could be very mind concentrating circumstances. To threaten to remove the stability of the service community is reprehensible and whoever thought of it should be sacked yesterday.
I understand that the Services has got a long way to go to ensure that Joe public understand that the military is not ‘just another job’. I had hoped that the Military Wives Choir would have focused the public’s perception of us. Perhaps I am totally naive in thinking this.
By the way I have signed the petition before you ask. Whether the faceless wonders take any notice will prove the value they actually have in those that keep us free and their commitment to the Military Covenant.

Services Covenant! bah, not worth the paper they are going to write it on. Are they going to put it in legalise? I won’t hold my breath.

The argument all seems to be one sided, with our views not worth the brain time. As the americans have found out bigtime in Afganistan!
For an update on the rebuild, the CWGC now has a revised website and has a news blog http://www.cwgc.org/
