Excuse my ignorance, but why have a deterrent that isn’t a deterrent other than to keep your mates (sorry voters) in work?

The deterrent (as far as we know) has worked for the past many years. Now we are telling peoples to vote Labour and all adversaries are welcome to our shores.

The Lightning T4 is the one and only preserved T.4 – XL629 at Boscombe Down. XL629 was used by the Empire Test Pilots School from 1966 to 1975 and retains the colours she wore while in service.

Having just got round to seeing it with a Chinese and a bottle of plonk, I thought it made good viewing for the general public.

Those of us in the know (my brother was a crew chief on the ‘hole in the wall gang’ 617) we can pick it to bits. It came as a surprise to find that Guy had spent 4 months with the team. This is no ‘I’m a presenter’ type docu. The jacks were lowered inch by inch with the locking ring just above that measurement. Yes if you get it totally wrong then that’s a jack up through the structure. Deep pockets are required to repair. If Mike Pollitt was being honest then Guy did a fair job of operating the aircraft. Taff doesn’t take any prisoners and appeared to welcome Guy into the family even letting him marshal at one point. Have you tried to do that? Straight out of training, marshalled Varsity’s chiefy points to you, Vulcan inbound, slot one; go! Brown adrenalin comes into play.

Yes I agree more time could have been spent on the reasoning behind the grounding. Joe public still don’t understand. My management (been round military aircraft all her life) even said why doesn’t the government or someone fund its continuation. It is not until you explain about time expired components, engines, structure, design authority requirements, insurance, etc., then the light bulb comes on. As I think (correct me if I’m wrong) Bill Perrins said after the nose leg incident in Scotland, the time has come to put the old girl to bed.

Guy really enjoyed his Blades trip including the aero’s. Kudos to the VTTS trust and Guy for being so enthusiastic. You have made millions of people extremely happy. Thank you.

Kill him and don’t tell anyone will probably be more effective. Measured silence and not giving the oxygen and air time to terrorists may have a subduing effect. I suppose the answer is, ‘never leave a power vacuum’. Gadhafi, Hussain, Assad all ruled with a cruel hand but their peoples had clarity, a home and food. What do they have now?

ISIS appear to have the upper hand and as with Medusa, cut off a head and how many snakes return.

My honest answer to this is ‘I haven’t a clue!’

May I join with the rabble to say; glad to have you back with your sense of profound sanity.

Do not doubt yourself for the position of moderator. You have as much experience as the rest of us put together. You appear to give (over many years) a balanced and considered opinion.

This new forum that you would wish to impose on us can only thrive with your type of oversee. Grab it with both hands and once again make your Father proud.

It will help in the healing process as you join the rest of us that overnight wonder why we no longer have parents. Continue to give back what you always have done. Our thoughts are with you at this extremely difficult period.
