I found the 16th Spitfire. It was named ‘Antrim’ but I don’t have a serial number.

Thanks for that kev35! Very useful. I’m toying with the idea of making a few models of some of these Spitfires and don’t have much to go on despite their names and serial numbers.

G-APDK, no that is the first taxi ride. Thanks for trying.

fiesty fox, I didn’t win the trip. I decided to treat myself this year with a taxi ride on Just Jane. Interestingly there was a raffle on the day to win a place on the taxi ride but the winner didn’t claim their prize!

Nice photos! Do you have any more of Just Jane taxiing? I was in the mid upper turret for the second taxi ride and recognize the people in the cockpit.

Fantastic airshow and beautiful museum. It was my first visit and I’ll definitely be back.

Thought I would bump this thread to say I finally went ahead and booked myself a taxi ride on Just Jane for the 7th August, which has the added benefit of being the RAF Benevolent Fund Airshow! Thanks to everyone with advice on how to get there and I think I’ve got it all sortred out.

Any tips on having a great day at East Kirky much appreciated.

A quick bump to ask if anyone knows the individual aircraft letter of BM557?

I was hoping to fly out with Aer Lingus as they do an early morning flight, then come home with Easyjet as they do an evening flight. I hadn’t heard about Aer Lingus stoppping it’s Belfast-Amsterdam route.

This B-17G had cheek guns,No Cheyenne tail turret these were fitted fron 55-VE onwards. It would have only carried national insignia, squadron codes would have been applied at it’s opertaional base. Staggered waist position. Aircraft in silver finish.

Thanks T-21. I was coming to these conclusions as well. Though I think the waist guns maybe unstaggered. From the photo it seems to show the waist gun window close to the crew door as in an unstaggered position. My book ‘B-17 In Action’ says staggered waist positions were introduced on -50-VE.

    Thanks for the info Graham.

How widely available will the book be? Just from your own website or other online stores? Any idea of a price?

It sounds an extremely well researched book and I look forward to getting hold of a copy.

I would imagine it’s because she is restored as a replica of Don Brooks fathers aircraft. I have read at least one posting on the net where someone thinks it is the original Liberty Belle returning to the UK!

I’m sure thats what they intended to mean, but when one of the presenters said something along the lines of “A replica world war two bomber….” it sure gives a different impression.

    Great Photos Darran,

BBC Breakfast just had article on Liberty Bell, nice film but persisited in calling it a replica !! Typical!!..

I just saw the same report at 7.50 am and was baffled why they twice referred to Liberty Belle as a replica!
