Is that type of failure considered `catastrophic` ?
It certainly failed but it seemed to do so quite sedately. `Catastrophic` in my book would be bits flying all over the place.
You were not in the aeroplane.
Don’t Nit Pick.
Nice film.
Rather liked the surprise as the hangar doors were opened, rather than a DCW/Penpusher ‘Preview”, don’t you think….?
Made my evening.
MODS!
Can we PLEEEZE stop this right now and get back to talking aeroplanes, not ice creams and traffic jams.
Start a separate “IWM Bashing” thread instead.
Pen Pusher, come back please….!!
Thank you.
So, not a quiet day at all then really?
Tigers everywhere, pretty Luscombe….
Ah, not Merlin powered 🙂
Lots of great videos to be seen, and lots more over the coming weeks.
I know the aircrews are very experienced, but it does worry me when I see them flying that close together.
Stop worrying…that’s not close!
With a teleport, perhaps, otherwise probably not
Tedious, in the extreme.
Makes me shy away from the Thread for fear of the T-Shirt waffle erupting again.
PLEASE. Keep on Track.
Congratulations sir!

Aircraft crashes on to the runway at Royal Navy Air Day
Well done to the pilot…! could have been much worse…
Zeb
Well said.
1) Do NOT speculate, web-pilots.
2) Pilot is unhurt, excellent news.
3) Aeroplanes can, and are rebuilt, several times.
4) YOU are paying for this one :)) (Taxpayers!)
Good for you!
Ah, no Spitfire flights though – does anybody know where they are with this?
FB
Duxford and Headcorn….
……and WO also designed the BR2 rotary engine which powered the Snipe and Salamander. – Good enough for me………
Bader drove one in The Film, and many others did in real life. Except he used a cane for pushing the throttle – maybe his pre-departure checks had missed the fact that all Vintage Bentley’s have a hand throttle on the steering boss – Cruise Control, 1920’s style.
11.30!!! Lightweight…:D
Well, I have to see the Doc about my Gout, tyre change on my wheelchair, take the cat to the Vet and then sneak out quietly for the weekend before anybody notices.
:dev2:
Tonight’s “nice and pretty weather Lady” says (for East Anglia) rain Saturday, cloud Sunday. I predict huge throngs on the DX corner by mid morning Friday…:highly_amused:
I will be there tomorrow at 1130.
I was there today, and the day before….
I will also be there Saturday and Sunday, all day, form 0730 till thrown out.
Monday, curiously, same same…
Tuesday – Day at home.
Ta 😀
I only asked as I’m only going on Friday & would like to see it.
Actually, I really don’t care who is going on Friday, Tuesday, next week or last Thursday.
AGAIN…
Can we stick to talking about the aeroplanes….?? Re-read the Forum title….
Thank you

FaceFart: English Electric Lightning Appreciation Group
Full of guys who can fulfil all your needs 🙂
Good luck.
Side slipping into the undershoot fence is simply poor airmanship! There is no need to touch down just in side the fence as the runway is plenty long enough to make a normal landing. An important aircraft has been damaged in my mind by sheer stupidity. My heart goes out to those who now have this extra job of repairing the aircraft.
Jeez.
You go hang your head in shame.
You clearly do not have one iota of an inkling of what the word “Airmanship’ encompasses. Nor of piloting an old aeroplane.
Do you post such comments merely to sit back and watch the fun develop? Probably.
Idiot.
