And comments like that will ensure that any questions anyone may have had about flying the Lightning will be quietly ignored.

Excellent standard of paintwork on that aeroplane.

    Commendable!

    Interesting stuff.

My Mother’s cousin was CWA Scott, so I have an interest in his exploits, especially before and after the race. “Scott’s Book” is readily available and well worth the read. How many times did he attempt to fly to Australia, in Moths various? Records broken? He opened up the Outback via the Aerial postal service, with many a caper. (Should read it if you haven’t already, Ken)

    Pics:

Signed photo of when he was with an aerial Circus touring UK. Flew my mother, brother and sister at Abbotsinch, Renfrew (Glasgow) in an Avro 504 (memory?)

Scott’s Obituary from the Times, 1946.

    Keep the thread going!

    Oh Boy.

Thank you, but Please don’t clog up an AVIATION THREAD with FaceF$%t trash. Save it for that place.

Enjoy your holiday, and we shall hear from you in January……

Looking at the pictures of the aircraft whilst taxiing,I cannot see KP waving/saluting with a hand outside of the cockpit. If it is pic 3,side pic,his right arm is inside possibly holding the stick forward to keep the tailwheel unlocked, and he is wearing an oxygen mask, which would be normal. Unless there is a photo showing something else,I suggest `those` who do should go to `Specsavers` at the earliest opportunity….!

    For Crying Out Loud…

Can we just Leave it alone…???

This is “supposed” to be an aviation forum. Instead, the bait is taken and the distraction goes on…and on….and on.

HISTORIC AEROPLANES. The clue is in the Title, People. (Not “SALUTES – World register-Therof”)

    KEEP ON TOPIC.

    ONLY six….??!!

If you would like to pop down to Dux, get your overalls on, work until 2200 JUST to ensure ONE of the six will appear on the Line on Saturday.

    JEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ!!!!!

Has that ever happened to you?

    No….?

So how can you comment on that. Could have sliced symmetrical lengths of blade off and been vibrating, yes, but….

He also might just have been in Shock and not thinking too straight. Considered that? No.

Armchairs are sooooo comfy these days, aren’t they?

Curiously, I flew XS417 half a dozen times while a student on the LTF.

Final trip in in WAS my final trip, as Pete Boothroyd chopped me…!!

    Fond memories.
