Just to clear this a little I mean is there a wall right in front of the seats in the front row separating the seated pax from the door area or is it open? Can a 6’2″ bloke stretch his legs out or will bang them on the bulkhead. (or in the case of row 2 D/E the galley).

I know it seems daft but it is way more comfortable for tall people (me) to sit in a normal seat and put their legs under the seat in front of them than to get an “extra leg room seat” and find there is a solid wall in front of you. I have fallen for this before so I just want to make sure it does not happen to my parents.

I agree it’s a shame but unless LHR slots open up airlines will have to use the ones they have for the most profitable routes.

This leads me on to a question that has been bothering me for a while. When BA ****** off to T5 what will happen to all the space they use up in the domestic bit of T1? With no customs and immigration services all this space is surly going to be pretty hard to use. Are LHR slots based on runway availability or gate space, if the latter does this mean that BD could really expand their domestic ops?

When BD were on the route a few years ago I used it a few times, and it was great. However, on one trip LBA-LCY there was a total of 5 people on the aircraft, Captain, First Officer, two flight attendants and, err, me. This was the early morning flight too, a load factor of 2% (the aircraft was an AT4) sums up why they pulled it.

As has been said before a train leaves for London every half hour during the day and takes little over 2 hours. This will ensure that no LCY/LGW/STN flights will start from LBA and I would not think that the LHR route will be with us much longer either.

As well as the Star and One World tickets there is also the VS/SQ/NZ thing called “The Great Escapade”. This would seem to fit pretty well with your trip, but as pointed out earlier backtracking to Asia may not be permitted. The general rule with RTWs is that you can go where you like as long as you keep going in broadly the same direction. Have fun!

I don’t know what the A/C type will be but the airline is XL.com.

Just a tip for PLH, if you get hungry nip into Marjons for a snack and a cheap pint. Much better than the snack bar in the terminal. Look forward to your photos.

Thanks very much newforest, the flight landed at 2355. According to my sister, how was on the flight, the delay was caused by: “the late arrival of the inbound aircraft”. It’s detailed answers like these that are the backbone of airline customer service!:D To be fair though I don’t suppose BIE have many planes so knock on delays are always a problem. It would be nice to know what the original delay was all the same.

Thanks, tried calling EXT but they had the same info as the website. Now that the arrival time is coming down I think this is a good sign, I would just like to know if it is on the way but none of the flight tracking site seem to be able to help.

BTW – click on the “where we fly to” section, and as the arrows move out over the globe, try and resist singing the theme to “Dad’s Army!!”

I tried but failed:D I last flew with AUE a few years ago and loved every minute of it, certainly one of the best IT flights I’ve ever had.

£129 is one way, £258 return is not very good really, given they are offering a low cost service. They will have to do better than that to temp me from the more established carriers, FF points, AVOD, booze, and connecting flights are just some to the things I like!

BMI did alright at LHR so there has to be more to it than that.

WOW!, I have not kept up with the work on ZK, she looks FANTASTIC!, I have got to go and see.

Thanks for the tips, looks like at least some of my day hanging out at MAN will be filled, not being a ‘spotter’ 9 hours at an airport can drag on a bit!

Anywhere good to eat at the AVP, is there a cafe or bar?

I have a 9.5 hour wait at MAN next month:eek: , on a Friday. If there are no buses on weekdays is it possible to walk from the terminal, does anyone have a map? Thanks.

Thats fine for silver members but what do golds get? Is this new benefit only on QF or are all One World carriers adopting the scheme. 🙂
