If it was a metal aircraft – Cat 3 repairable most probably, but composite materials…. I’d guess Cat 4 return to manufacturer

With the daft ideas the government goes off on, maybe we should push for ‘listing’ aircraft of historical value, so the owners are obliged to maintain their condition – like certain houses

That ‘scrapyard’ pic does indeed look like a tallboy.

I just did a search for pics of 16″ shells and they are generally parrellel in section with more pointed fronts and compression bands.

If you look at the way the rear of the casing tapers away it certainly looks like the bomb

I don’t know about first flight, but wouldn’t it be great if she’s booked for the Olympics in London

To be honest, Coltishall, like most RAF bases has a large amount of WW2 building infastructure. It has obviously been adapted and modernised over the years, but is externally largely as was, barr the odd extension or new roof.

There is also a WW2 revetment still on the airfield…….. 60 years old and still pretty intact

My understanding is that any use as a civillian airport is out – we only have one runway and the approach would go straight over Norwich on finals

Well, the MOD has no use for it and nothing else has been announced locally other than the fact that they want a speedy resolution, unlike West Raynham.

There was an article in Air Forces Monthly last year – I certainly recall that the cockpit looked nothing like ours (RAF) & I only recognised a few instruments that are the same as the UK/French machines.

I may still ahve it somewhere – if not anyone else got a copy?
