I think you are referring to this area, Bader drive, heywood, ol10.
There are some military style buildings, but i’m not sure it was an airfield.
Just found this RAF NO 35 MU HEADQUARTERS HEYWOOD
Taken from

When I went before a Selection Board at the Air Ministry for my commission I asked if it were possible to take a commission as an Equipment Officer. This request was granted and I was chosen as one of the first WAAF’s to go on an Equipment course at Grange Over Sands in Lancashire. I passed the course successfully and was posted to Manchester to No. 35 M.U.
(Maintenance Unit). This was not an RAF Station but a civilian-manned unit at Heywood. The H.Q. was in Heywood itself but the various sites, which stocked balloon equipment, aircraft spares and motor transport spares etc. covered an area up to 10 – 15 miles.
Sorry PM sent
Why dont they remove that end of the link and frame it somehow and replace it with new material?
May try that option
Isn’t there an intact, inverted Botha in an estuary near Millom?
Don
Correct, plus others around the coast line off the airfield, a DUCK was used as the rescue boat and the track and ramp to the beach still survive. There are some plane wrecks marked on the charts that the inshore life boat people hold.
What’s happening with those Landies? I’ll get rid if you want and I won’t charge a penny!
Ahhh this is also a landie recycling facility, so we will not charge to take yours away if you dont want them, there are another 4 out of shot.
Question about the link trainer, are you goijng to preserve the end of the one intact with all the stickers?!
It will be taken back to its original colour scheme which is visible underneath, and its curent scheme will be recorded.
This is our new 3000 sq ft building, just needs some painting, cleaning and a few other jobs to do.

The next two engines to have been restored, just got to finish the stands for them.

Here are our AA Guns on their way to the Family Day at the local Gun Range at Eskmeals on the 15th August.

Did it back in 2005, took quite a bit of work even for three aircraft per day
This is not even half of it, it is spread over two sites, the Airfield Visitors Centre and the Display & Restoration Hall, we are currently in discussions regarding a further building (approx 3,000 sq ft) adjacent to Display & Restoration Hall.
Good news – we get the keys to this building on the 5th August, it will become our Land Warfare Hall were most of the military vehicles/weaponry/Army displays will be moved to over the coming weeks.
This will give us back valuable space in the Display & Restoration Hall and allow more aviation exhibits to be brought under cover.
